Unfortunately you can't pick and choose with reconstructionist beliefs. If none of them does it for you, you can always go eclectic and make your own, where you include those traditions/beliefs/rituals from every path that you like and discard the others. Lots of people do that nowadays (especially in the States, for some reason.)

If you want to be a recon, you have to take the belief as it is, with all the good and bad points. If, however you decide to be an eclectic pagan and mix-your-own belief, that's perfectly fine with me. Just don't expect the recons to take you seriously then.

No, I was trained in a Celtic Traditional Ceremonial coven...no barbarism in our practice, even though Celts were warriors and yes, a bit barbaric. (Just like many other people of their times.) We did not even bring meat to our coven feasts at all.

I do know that some traditions still utilize animal sacrifice in a controlled environment. (Not for me, though.) A particular Pagan author and his wife were explaining her tradition to me (she participates in this; he is a ceremonial magickian and does not participate in her tradition). He agreed with me that it's not for him, either; but she can practice as she likes. I can't remember what she called it, though. Remember that Paganism is a very broad, many-traditioned community of people. Most of us do not participate in blood sacrifice, but there will always be one or two.

Paganism has many forms. It has as many forms as there are pagans in the world. It is a very big umbrella term that covers many deities, spirit paths, and forms of belief. Being Pagan is a little different for everybody and pagans revel in the infinite variety of spirit-paths. If it doesn't exist yet...create it!

Try looking into Celtic Wicca. Just a guess.

Try the Mithraic traditions. Male god, bull-jumping, mysticism. What's not to like?

Celtic reconstruction

Anglo-Saxon reconstruction - often mistaken for Asatru but a few differences.

Roman Paganism, maybe? They sure were barbaric conquerers and they knew how to party; but their religion was essentially that of the Greeks! Jordsvin
