Your right. Things can be changed. Like I've taken the christ out of xmas and now it's about giving presents. So please enjoy your holiday and allow others to enjoy theirs.

Christmas was never a pagan holiday! A pope did not choose the date, Constantine did!
The holiday, Christmas, was set at December 25th to coincide with a pagan holiday to "convert" the pagans. So, the 25th was a pagan holiday, or there abouts, but Christmas was never and is not a pagan holiday.
Like much in life, the purpose of the day is subjective. Many people celebrate the holiday without even a thought to Jesus. I could make June 1 April Fool's Day if I wanted to, but then I would be the only fool. Likewise I could say that February 14th is the "Cut Chickens' Heads Off Day".
Born agains celebrate it as Jesus' birthday. Some argue over whether it is even possible to "christinize" forms and customs, as has been done with many of the objects of Christmas time. (trees, wreathes, yule log, etc.)
Most people, saved or not, do not worship their trees, so, as with the scripture you refered to, idols only have as much power as people give them.
The same is true of the devil and demons. They can't do anything unless we listen to them and do what they suggest. Just like Eve in the garden.
That's why it is important to renew our minds every day or we will be easy tools for the enemy. Then we will end up worshipping trees!
p.s. Wedding rings are not pagan. Where did you get that idea from. Also, where did you get the casket factoid from?

Pagans celebrate yule(December 21st) Pagans did not convert, the Christians adopted some of the pagan celebrations. Why are catholics so belligerent that they cannot accept other religions other than their own? The pagan funeral tradition is laying the body upon a pontoon and setting it alight to release the spirit. Some pagans do not eat meat at all.Samhain is the time when the deceased spirits rise. Witchcraft is any time of the year for those whom practise it.

to answer your question what is so bad about paganism do you even understand what it is to be a pagan what they actually do? You probably don't you simply stereotype them by the acts of a few. If it is because they are said to practice magic I can say but one thing magic in and of it self isn't evil it can only do what it is commanded to do so. And finally to point something out in your point of view supposedly all are equal in the eyes of the Lord so why are you forcing someone to change their ways when supposedly they are already in gods good graces and while I am at it why is it that god is so wrathful in the old testament and then all so suddenly so kind and caring in the new testament so many unexpected changes so quickly if god is so infallible why is it that god got so angry in the old testament if things didn't go his way and with that I finish this lecture.

Well, first of all, Halloween was originally a Christian holiday. It was originally All Hallow's Eve or All Saints Day Eve. November first being All Saints Day.
And do you have nothing wrong with the Church changing the date of the birth of their 'savior' in order to try and 'save' the souls of pagans?
And since you don't celebrate Halloween, originally a Christian holiday, will you not wear a wedding ring or be buried in a casket?

You are wright! Paul did say that! He did not, however, celebrate the birth of Christ! The birth of Christ is Passover, not the birthday of Tammuz! Tammuz is the god of the morning star. He was the illegitimate son of Semiramis, who was the queen of Babylon, she is the queen of heaven and she is the god of the moon, her king was Nimrod. It was he that founded Babylon, built it's city's, and the tower of Babel. He is the god of the sun. This is the trinity! So when you are celebrating the 'birth' of Christ you in reality are paying homage to a pagan god. All of the traditions of 'Christmas' (Christ's mass) are pagan, and have nothing what so ever to do with Christ, Christianity, or with salvation. We do not were rings or any kind of jewelry, as for being buried in a casket? It is no more 'pagan' then it is 'christian'. As far as I am concerned, when I die, they can just wrap me in a sheet and toss me in a hole. I will not care what they do to my corps, because I will not be aware of it, or anything else, in any case.

The G-d of Israel gave a law to his people that nothing that was used to worship pagan gods could be used in His worship.
Taking on the celebration of the birth of the sun god (pick a pagan tradtion--most have a sun god) and disguising it with a veneer of christian piety, claiming it as Jesus' birthday, is like putting clean clothes on an unwashed body--the clean clothes will never cleanse the body but the body will always dirty the clothes.
Pagan friends: please do not take offense at the comparison. The example is to demonstrate religious purity and could just as easily be used to show how christian practices can taint the sacredness of Judaism.
A joyous Solstice to both hemispheres!

Winter solstice, sun-god, christmas--call it what you will it's all the same.
It is written that the ways of G-d are of foolishness to the rest of the world. Those "christians" still celebrating christmas even after they know the truth are doing so because they don't want to give up the traditions of the world.
I say let pagans KEEP their holiday--they invented, they celebrated it, it SHOULD belong to them.

Okay, you've forced me to recall old gnostic texts. Here's the skinny on the Christmas holiday. The original holiday was not Christ's birthday, but a celebration of Mithras, an old pagan deity. As Christianity spread, they claimed the 25th of December as the celebration of the arrival of the Christ. The exchange of gifts, the Christmas tree, are all of pagan origins. This does not make the damning in any way if you are a follower of Christ. I wear a wedding band, and have had my marriage blessed by a priest, and abide by Christian doctrines. Burial in a casket might have been considered by the pagans, but it is comforting to those of us whom must bury our dead. I have been blessed to have loved, and buried many loved ones. The casket, merely provides comfort to those of us among the living. It would seem so cold, callous, and disrespectful to simply toss the deceased into a hole, then cover them up. Wouldn't you agree? My thoughts on this subject are past rituals might have been pagan, but those who've accepted Christ as our Holy Savior, see these rites as a spiritual beginning for those that have passed. If you are a devout fan of the bible, you also know, the souls of the deceased do not go immediately to heaven, but wait to be judged, as we all will. Peace

So you don't mean to insult us pagans by saying that our way was "something bad" and that the stupid Christian brutes who reamed the pagans mercilessly at the behest of their so-called loving god were actually the knights riding in on the white horses????????? OH, but that wasn't meant to be insulting?
Ahem. It WAS insulting and it still IS insulting. The "bad" was in what changes were wrought upon the world by this monotheistic, patriarchal, misogynistic murderous religion that you think is so great!
I am a pantheist pagan Witch. I don't associate myself or my pursuits as being synonymous with death, as you so bluntly put it. I suppose you think that is was not so bad to burn us at the stake too, since that was in effect, wiping out what your church considered to be bad? YOUR cockamamie religion was the perpetrator of death there, not the innocents who died NEEDLESSLY.
Read some REAL history, learn something. I recommend When God Was A Woman, by Merlin Stone. Read something that will educate you.

Yes, as a Pagan, I've completely rejected how Christians changed our Yule and solstice celebrations to suit their own agenda. I find the crass commercialism of your holiday pathetically akin to those disgusting megachurches that only serve to tell the community that you think you are better than everyone else.
