The last few days, he's been eating everything he can (wrappers, attacking my packets of gum...anything).

But this morning, he was curled up in a corner. He walked a few steps and it was almost like watching stop-motion photography. Particularly in his hind legs, which are very weak and bent and stiff-ish.

[edit] Thanks everyone. Took Action to the vet. His temp is low and they got 'em on an IV for hydration. I'm picking him up tomorrow.

Again, thanks.

id say best to talk to a vet. my cat went weak in her hind legs for a couple of days but got better on her own (shes 20 years old) we put it down to stress as a neighbours cat was hanging around and its quite a stroppy cat and ours is little.
your cat may have had a stroke or have heart problems. A vet would if this is common and be able to pinpoint the problem better. hope it gets better!!!!!

Clearly you need to take kitty to the vet. An emergency vet if possible. However, how old is your cat and does he/she have history of a similar problem?

Until you can reach a vet, just let your feline friend rest, and give him extra love and attention.

Why haven't you taken you cat to the vet?? The symptoms you describe could be any number of things, none of which will be pleasant for the cat. Could be diabetes (deadly), or cancer (deadly), renal failure (deadly), intestinal blockage (deadly), etc... How old is the cat? In any case, get the poor thing to a doctor, as it is very likely suffering with a lot of pain.

you (and most people on here who ask if they should bring their pet to the vet) need to start acting like the pet is your baby.

If something was wrong with your baby, would you wait a few weeks to bring him/her to the doctor? i would hope not.

and you shouldn't do the same thing to a pet. So what if it costs money? you should have known that when you got the pet. So what if you spend the money and NOTHING is wrong? you now have peace of mind. What if you did NOT spend the money and bring your pet to the vet and he/she dies? Then what? You'll regret it.

Treat your pet like a baby. Spend money on him/her. Don't wait to bring him/her to the vet. JUST DO IT.

(not meant as a personal attack, just frustrated at how many people on here WAIT for us to respond (weeks later) to bring their pet in or not and its frustrating.)

I concur whole-heartedly with what everyone else is saying! GET THAT CAT TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY, if not sooner. Today is Sunday, but the emergency clinics for cats/dogs are open, and your cat is in DIRE STRAITS! If you LOVE him, you'll do what's best for him, and get him in ASAP. Tomorrow may be too late! Good luck..........
