whats a good cheap scope i could use?
what method of sighting should i use?

first get the gun mounted so it does not move. aim it towards a point on the target with the guns actual sights. Then attach your scope (without moving the gun) and aim it at that same spot. there ya go and if it doesnt work your mounts on your scope are loose!

You are starting too close.
If you set the scope 'on` at 10' you will wind up way
too high at reasonable ranges.
If you set the scope about 1 1/4" above point of
impact at 10', you will still be on target downrange.

Forget these cheap scopes. The iron sights are far more usable. Maybe a $10 red dot, but they aren't much better. Have you even tried the open sights?
