i have tried almost everything. The one that works for me a little is Advil. is there anything stronger.

My back is sensative to the touch due to having Shingles 14 years ago. My Shingles after healing turned into Post Herapetic Neuralgia (nerve pain). Extremely painful all these years and nothing helps. I even tried the patches for pain and nothing. It feels like my back is swollen all the time.

If you keep taking the anti-inflammatory medicines, you are just blocking the body's natural healing mechanisms. It will make you feel better in regard to pain, but will inhibit the healing process.

You may be suffering from a condition that is caused by antibiotics. If you took antibiotics for your shingles, you may have driven the germ deep into your tissue and it has raised it's ugly head in this way. This is not atypical.

Most likely there is no drug or surgery that will solve this problem for you and so doctors are not going to be able to help you with this, if that is the case. Doctors are precluded, BY LAW, to only treat you with drugs or surgery.

The pain may be from swollen tissue due to biofilm protected infection. Biofilms are insidious sticky polysaccharide sacs that surround a bacteria or virus allowing the bacteria or virus to inject their poisons into the substrate free from macrophage attack in the body's immune system response.

The pain is a result, not the underlying problem. If you keep trying to relieve the pain, only, you will most likely never break free from the problem. You need to address the real issue and that will eventually get rid of the pain.

There are many natural mechanisms in the body that can attack the problem, if you give it the right nutrients. If you are deficient, this will contribute to the problem. To become NOT nutrient deficient in America is not easy.

Bottom line is that you may have gotten rid of the symptoms of the Shingles, but now are dealing with the same bacteria or virus that caused the Shingles in the first place. Blue Green Algae does wonders for speeding up the healing process in getting rid of bacteria or virus that causes shingles.

Like many illnesses we get in life, the germs causing these illnesses are still resident in our bodies. Many cultures that promote fasting work to achieve what is called a "healing crisis" that flushes the body of these things. The fasts themselves do not do this, but in many cases the fasts lead to the "healing crisis." When the healing crisis is achieved, the garbage is released and the person experiences symptoms of the diseases over a few hour period as the garbage leaves the body. This could be recognized as proof that the germs are still there in the body as we age.

The biggest problem happens when these germs are driven deep into the tissues and re-emerge 10 to 20 years later and are not recognized as a result of taking the antibiotics years earlier.

I would suggest you go to the source of nutrients that I've found to be the best in the World because there are no excipients in any of the products, they use grade 10 nutrients, and none of the products are "stand alone" nutrients, but matrices of co factors and all natural, once living sources, making them highly biologically active and have the same cell resonances as the body.

I would order the following:

Blue Green Powder in capsule form --- Take 6 to 12 of these per day

Allicidin --- Take 8 of these per day

Betaine HCL -- Take 2 to 4 of these AFTER each meal
Activator --- Take 1 to 2 of these AFTER each meal
Quantum Digest --- Take 2 DURING each meal
Probiotic --- Take 2 in the a.m. and 2 in the p.m. each day
Nucleotides --- Take 8 of these per day
Oleuropin --- Take 8 to 10 of these per day
Colostrum Powder --- Take 1 heaping tsp. in the a.m & p.m.
DHLA --- 2 tsps. per day in water. -- sip it throughout the day.

Max Stress B --- start with 1/2 teaspoon in water or juice and sip it slowly. After the first day, increase it to 1 tsp. and then 1-1/2 tsp. and the 2 tsps. per day. This will help greatly with the pain and you can stop this after a month or so if you continue to take the probiotics listed above.

All of the above is going to greatly improve your digestion and put nutrients to work for you. Your immune system will go into high gear and you should see a big difference in how you feel in days.

I know this seems like a lot of things to take, but in order to give your body what it needs, these things will boost your system in a way that you have not experienced. I would take the allicidin product for at least 2 months and the Betaine HCL, Activator, and digest for the rest of your life. This will assure you of good digestion and add about 30 - 35 years to your life expectancy due to the remethylation of your cells.

The DHLA will rid your body of ALL free radicals known and the reason for sipping it throughout the day is that it is used up by the body in about 45 minutes.

In regard to your diet, I would strong suggest you stay completely away from all overly high omega 6 fatty acid foods such as ALL vegetable oils, like Canola, Soybean, Cottonseed, and Corn oils. All these are being genetically engineered now and are causing many of the problems like you are having. These are very unstable polyunsaturated oils that convert to trans fats with a slight amount of heat and light. They inhibit the formation of many enzymes required by the body and are toxic to the body.

I would also purchase the "super food trio" from the same company listed above. This will help your overall nutrition as well.

good luck

I don't see where a chiropractor will help you in any way, David R is wrong.

Go to a Pain management clinic and talk to the doctors there. After 14 years of intense pain, they installed a "Medtronic spinal pain stimulator". It involves interrupting the nerve pain to the brain and sends out a controlled signal that vibrates instead. You control the signal by an outside unit.
After 14 years of intense pain, I'm almost pain free, 70% anyway, that's something from what I was.

They can install this unit in you for a trial first, I did for two weeks, then a surgeon installed the permanent unit. You can turn it off also, so, you have a choice.

You should check this Sciatica Natural Treatment
http://cure-sciatica.info

Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication
I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen.
I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica. Try a reputable chiropractor ASAP!

There are a lot of medicines a lot stronger than Advil, but the point is to make the problem better, not become a prescription med junkie (and there are plenty of those!)
Get massage, start an exercise program, and see a good Chiropractor (find them on an insurance website, DON'T call from a big yellow page ad - those are crooks!) 8-12 treatments should help you a lot, and can be as cheap as $30 a visit! (better than $300 a visit at a PT, which I had to pay once!)
PS: Use cold packs, not heat packs. If the real problem is your shingles you need anti-virals, which helped me tons when I had shingles.
Best luck.

Re: "David R"'s response (see above): Mr. David R may be a chiropractor, but he is giving you incorrect information which shows he is not very knowledgeable about shingles and post-herpetic neuralgia. His referral to "prescription med junkies" was rather rude and judgemental. Many people who are prescribed pain meds by their physicians for legitimate pain (and post herpetic neuralgia is one of them) are able to live more normal and productive lives because of the meds. So don't feel guilty about talking to your doctor about medication for your pain. He also mentioned anti-viral drugs...those are only useful during the shingles outbreak when the shingles rash and blisters are visible. After that, especially years after, the pain is due to the nerve being irritated and inflamed in that area where the shingles were. Cold packs will only make the pain worse and so will massage and ESPECIALLY a chiropractor. This is nerve pain and has nothing to do with joints, muscles or bones. See your doctor and I hope you get better.

Hi....what does your MD say??? Has he tried you on Neurontin?

There are meds out there especially for nerve pain.

Ibuprofen...Have you tried that? That's a long time to be in pain. I would suspect it's the touching that triggers the pain.

I would have to wear a thin woman's undershirt or silky chamise at all times. On top of that I would buy a wrap around elastic back brace....just a stretchy one. Gently wrap it and pull it snug. Usually they are fastened with velcro in the front.

Then you can wear your panties, slacks, etc without the waist bands irritating your back. It's a try. But, you really need to see "Pain Management" in your town, or change MDs. Somebody has gotten tired of you. There are meds out there for you.

Good luck

We'll I'm not a doctor, and your pain is probably alot worse than mine, but I have back pain too sometimes

and I use Tylenol sometimes, but don't want drugs, so most of the time, I use something called White Flower from the health store

You take a q-tip and put some on it, it is used externally

I put some on my back and it makes it feel alot better, until it wears off, but at least it helps me get to sleep without drugs

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.

I have lower back pain from a nasty fall and a wreck. Besides going to a chiropracter (which was great), the only thing I can do is stretch in the mornings while I am in the shower. That does not always get me through a day though. It sucks. Have you tried a chiropracter? ALot of people thinkg they are quacks--but I found it very helpful.

I'm sorry to hear of your pain. For the nerve damage that the shingles caused you you will need nerve medication. It would also be a good idea to ask about a prescription of a pain medication. Most over the counter medications won't help the pain from nerve damage. Because the shingles may have somewhat damaged your immune system you may also need to ask about immune builders.

Again, I'm sorry to hear that you've been doing so badly after your dealing with shingles. I had shingles, I had no nerve damage afterwards but I feel so badly for those that did.

I hope that you have a competent doctor taking care of you, but it sounds like you do not. Please change doctors if you are in this kind of pain and cannot find relief. Only thing I would suggest, from experience with a horrible back problem, was cold compresses, then when you can't stand it anymore, put a heating pad on it. Repeat. It actually worked going back and forth.
