As salaamu 'alaikym.
Insha'Allah, you have read correctly. The prophet Isa (sallaahu 'alaihi wasallaam) was taken up to heaven and he will return during the last Days. Alhumdulillah!
Ma'a salaam.

Jesus Christ IS alive. He was born, lived on earth among us, and was crucified for the sins of all mankind (male & female). He was buried, then was resurrected to new life on the third day.
He was seen and spoke to and fellowshipped with multitudes of peoples after He rose from the grave, before He ascended into Heaven in the full view of multitudes.
Jesus already came so that mankind could have the choice of spending eternity in Heaven with Him or in The Lake Of Fire with Satan for eternity. He will appear in the clouds for His Bride (Christians=who believe in and follow Jesus Christ) in what modern man calls, "the rapture" and the rapture will occur right before The Great Tribulation begins. Seven years later, Jesus will return again to save Israel when the entire world will seek to attack and destroy Israel. 2/3 of the enemies of the world who will start to attack Israel will be destroyed by Jesus Christ and Almighty God.

Are you referring to the second coming?
Revelation: 7
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
8: I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
18: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

That's the Islamic belief.
However, Christians and Messianic Jews believe His Spirit lives on because He is Yahweh.
Yahweh could never die, because He is eternal, and since Yeshua (Jesus) is Yahweh according to my faith, Yeshua could never die.
