I want a good rifle or muzzleloader. I am looking at the Mosin Nagant, SKS, CVA Buckhorn, and Mossberg 500-590. I dont have that muck $$$ cuase i am on a budget. My dad says gets muzzleloader, that way I can hunt longer. I aready have a shotgun for deer, and ml's and shotguns are all we can hunt with in my state. I want a rifle, just to have one. A shotgun for home defense, and a muzzle loader for hunting. What should I get? I mostly want a good cheap military surpplus rifle. Heard alotta good about the mosin and the SKS...Give me some insight...Thanks...

Have you considered an H&R Handi-Rifle?
If you get one in .30-'06, you can get barrels in all the other rifle calibers as well as shotgun barrels fitted to the receiver.
H&R's might not be fancy, or even pretty, but they are modestly priced, reliable, and generally quite accurate. With the Handi-Rifle, you can end up with one receiver and half a dozen or more different barrels in different calibers for about the same price you'd pay for one really fancy bolt-gun or semi-auto.

Doc Hudson is right on the money with the Handi- Rifle. If you choose not to go that way, the SKS has my vote as it is an autoloader and is faster on repeat shots. Be aware that the SKS is only about a 125 yard rifle without a scope and that is close to the muzzleloading range as well...Your choice.

If your looking for a nice Rifle and don't want to spend alot of money you may want to look at the Mossberg 4x4 rifle. This rifle comes in a variety of calibers from .223 to the .338 ....
This is a very good quality rifle with a very good price. The new 4x4 by Mossberg is also very good looking.

Check out these sites for values & prices to give you some ideas & how much they cost.* Also check out Surplusrifle.com and gunsnet.net and Impact Guns.com... You might want to consider buying a good used gun, because a new gun doesn't shoot any better than a used gun.* Buy used and save $$$$$.*

Well if you have a shotgun then you can hunt a large number of animals already.
unless you plan on shooting a rifle often, just owning one can get pretty boring, trust me i know.
out of these options I'd get a muzzleloader, to extend your hunting season.
