Hinduism is one of mankind's oldest living religions, but you're right, we don't hear much about it. That's because it is so different from Western religions.

From the Western viewpoint, Hinduism is both pagan and pantheistic. Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are all monotheistic religions. In other words, according to the Western religions, there's only One God. In Hinduism, there's a pantheon of Gods. In other words, there's a lot of them. Some include

Ganesha
Shiva
Brahma
Vishnu
Durga
Lakshmi
Saraswati
Hanuman
Radha
Krishna

Also, Hinduism can be sort of confusing so it's hard to get a handle on. Rather than just having one holy book like the Bible, there's a lot of Hindu holy scripture.

Hinduism is still pretty much confined to India. It hasn't spread all over like Christianity or Islam. However, wherever you find some people from India, you're likely to find a Hindu temple.

A branch of Hinduism called "Krishna Consciousness" did catch on in the West in the 1960's and was followed by George Harrison of The Beatles. Keep in mind though that just like there's various Christian sects (Catholic, Protestant, etc) there's a lot of Hindu sects and Krishna Consciousness is just one of many.

Hindus are few and far between in western countries.

The truth is that people are more interested in talking about people than religions.

because they don't want nor need converts so there's really no need to talk about hinduism. you can only be born into it. if you want to know about it here: http://www.answers.com/topic/hinduism would be a good place to start.
