My GSD loves people and wants to be around them all the time. And at times, he gets a little hyper. I take him for a long walk 30 to 45 minutes before company comes over. That gets him tired and he usually takes a nap for a while.
It's not fool proof but he is such a good listener after a couple of sniffs around the room, he is no longer interested in guests. Usually he then plays with his toys.

Tell your family not to come ! It is where the dog lives, they must know you have one. Let them have the party. If your live with parents, ask around for friends with a quieter house for you & th edogs to visit. If not take it on a long walk, bring food/water toy in a separate room & STAY with the dog, do not leave it alone !! It will be more upset about why their are a bunch of people in IT'S TERRITORY !!!

My friend kept her dogs in her bedroom while she had company over for her Christmas party. Everyone that came over actually loves dogs, but they get very anxious when there are a Ton of people over. So she just kept them in her bedroom for a few hours. Then once most of the people left, she let the dogs come down to say hi.

Personally, I would tell my family too bad, my dogs are part of MY family and if they don't like it then don't come over. BUT if you choose to cater to your family, a hard rubber bone or some sturdy toy to occupy her in another room would probably work ok. Also leave a radio or TV on with her so the party noise doesn't get her too riled up.

First off that situation stinks. but anyways try putting her in the room and closing the dog keep some food water and maybe the T.V on for her (yes they watch tv) i would recommend animal planet.. or you can take her outside for a long time and get her all tired out and by the time they get here shes fast asleep.

Your family should accept that you have a dog, before they agreed to come over for a party.
If you have a crate, you could put her in there until she's calm, or you can have her on a leash until she adjusts to everyone around her.

I'd put her in your room, preferably in a crate, with toys and perhaps even a special chewie or something that she really likes. It'd be less stressful for her, your guests, and the whole situation.

SHAME ON YOUR FAMILY FOR WANTING TO ISOLATE PART OF YOUR FAMILY ON ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT DAYS OF THE YEAR. TELL PEOPLE WHEN THEY COME IN THE HOUSE TO IGNORE THE DOG AND DONT YELL AT HIM WHEN HE BARKS THAT WILL MAKE HIM WORSE. IF HE SEES THAT HE IS NOT GETTING A REACTION HE WILL CALM DOWN. MY DOG DOES THE SAME THING AND THE BEST THING TO DO IS PRETEND THAT HE IS NOT THERE AND LET HIM GO ON HIS MERRY WAY LATER HE WILL APPROACH PEOPLE IN A BETTER MANNER, TRUST ME I KNOW

Just go out with your dog. I would personally just take my dog and go out for a long walk and just relax where it is nice and quiet, away from the all the noise. I'm not much of a party person.
