If you are female it could be a number of things and if you are male, it could also be a number of things-get to a doctor as pain means something is wrong and the more severe, usually, the more serious the pain. And remember, some diseases present no pain, so get a physical exam by a good professional. If you do not get along with them, get another one as it is a Service and you Pay for it.

If it started after sitting in a particular position, then change the position. If it goes away, then case solved.
If you have pain on a regular basis, then it is mis-allignment of the vertabrae or a pinched nerve. If this is the case, then go see a chiro.
If needed, use IBU or other swelling medications.

Ok, a very common reason why that happens is the way you pick something up. It is probably because you are over working your back, a good thing to do is to stretch you back anytime you pick something up heavy. You need to bend your knees and bring the object close to you when picking it up.

I could be arthritis. If I'm sitting in my chair at this desk it hurts after a while. But if I'm in another chair of mine that is more comfortable, then it dose not hurt. If your doctor tells you it is, dancing takes most of the pain away after six weeks steady.

you could have pinched your sciatica nerve.. It runs through your spine, or it could be muscular..try some Icy Hot, or Ben Gay to see if that relieves it,, I had Sciatica and the only thing that relieved it was a couple of steroid injections directly into my spine...( not painful )..good luck..If it doesn't clear up in a few days please see your doctor..

depending on your situation, heat should be applied through a warm compress. If this persist perhaps a visit to a chiropractor or Physician should be your next step. Don't wait untill it gets worse to get a medical opinion.
