The Bible is our guiding light.

What if we find on the day of judgement that the Bible was changed and manipulated by the Devil?
Are we then doomed to hell because of our mistaken faith?
Will our faith in Jesus be enough to save us?

And if it is our faith in Jesus saves us - do we need to give so much importance to the Bible?

The bible was manipulated, not by Satan but by man. Books were left out, some rewritten to fit someone idea of what was right. It as been translated a dozen times with each person putting their own thoughts in. Believe in god and stop worrying about the rest

people before and after the time of Jesus would've never known faith in salvation apart from God's word, however complete it was at a given time.

there is no way that the devil could've manipulated the Bible. how else do you explain prophecy? prophecy is history pre-written. the devil does not, nor cannot know the future. only God does.

besides, on the day of judgement, the white throne judgement... the Bible is one of the books that people are judged from, dare i say the primary book. it is God's book of revelation. His way of showing Himself to the world. the devil hates it, and that is why there is so much scrutiny over the Bible.

If you believe in a God that sees into your heart, understands all your motivations, and knows your mind--then you have nothing to fear from that God. We cannot be guilty of believing in the wrong book when we thought it was the right one. The bible is not God. The bible was written by man. To trust the bible is to trust man. I encourage you to trust the Spirit behind the words in the bible and trust that Spirit to guide you. It's my belief that if a God intended us to follow a very strict set of rules, that God would have laid it down to us in a way that it could not be manipulated or misinterpreted. So isn't it possible that while the Bible may have been divinely inspired, that it was never God's intention that we consider it His word but merely an interpretation (by man) of His word?

Have faith in your God and do not fear. Follow what you believe to be His word as best as you can and as sincerely as you can and trust that He will know that you did this. Trust that He will not punish you for ignorance.

If you are a christian you are aware of the Holy Spirit. You should know He is not involved in any other faith - ask them, they absolutely don't know who He is however religious they appear to be (He was also in Old Testament Judaism). So if the Bible was corrupt, it would be the best we have, so God couldn't blame us for being faithful to its message. Its not as if any other religion could have replaced it, if they don't have the Spirit.

Old Testament - some rabbinic rewriting for sure, eg mentions of Philistines in Abraham's time, when they are believed not to have migrated until much later. Amazing though to see many prophecies in Isaiah come true in Jesus' life.

New Testament. There are known patches - eg the end of Mark, I guess probably added by a companions of Mark, or later church leaders, since the original ending is so abrupt. There are small insertions, slight alternates in places. There are also versions that use much more florid versions of Greek, but say the same thing in effect - probably in effect making it easier for the readers. We'd get worried if semantic meaning was altered. The basic message about Jesus dying for our sins must have hundreds references to, though, so not at all possible that has been changed even if a Mohammedan or athiest conspiracy theory had merit.

But it did come from the Spirit of God - yes, that's God. I don't believe any texts other than the Old and New Testaments involved any direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit (except some christian books, but its not wise to put them on the same authority level, eg St Augustine has some non-christian philosophy in his works). Some other non-chrostian religious texts have been the creation of fallen angels, and others by wise men doing their best, so beware, believers in them could lose their eternal soul !

It has been manipulated, but it's been by man. Since men are fallible, there is a possibility that things got a little off somewhere along the way. I'm not saying the bible is wrong, or bad, or that we shouldn't believe in it. We should. We just need to look at it for what it is, and not lean on it for every word from God.

We can receive clarification, and additional enlightenment if we are willing to listen to what God has to say to each of us. If you read it with an open mind, and a prayer in your heart, you will learn what God is really trying to say to you. Sometimes the bible isn't literal, sometimes it's figurative, and we need to understand the difference, and learn to distinguish between the two.

Wha'dya mean "WHAT IF"? I don't doubt it was and is and likely will be manipulated through interpretations, translations, and selected text. But You can't know that if You don't read it. It is not ALL bogus, not even mostly.

Keep asking. You are on the right track, and God will be pleased with such a bright mind.

Jesus says that the earth and heaven will pass away, but His word will NEVER pass away. No matter how much the devil might try to manipulate it in all kinds of differnt translation, the main message of the Bible will always stay strong.

Of course we're doomed if that happens. Our entire faith is based on the Bible. Would God just leave us high and dry like that though? No.

Hon, We are not held responsible for that which we know not of. The changer of the words is help accountable. We are beloved and forgive by grace.

You don`t become a brain surgeon, or a race car driver, or a Chef by reading one book. It takes time. We are not perfect. We will never be perfect. God doesn`t require perfection. He never asked for us to be perfect. He loves us just like any other Dad. We are his kids.. He is patient and wants us to be happy and blessed..

Peace and God bless From Texas. <><

Well, it was.

Firstly it was written by several different men at different times in different places.... which is why it's so full of contradictions.
Secondly it's been translated over and over again, so the original meanings are probably lost.
Thirdly, most of it was transcribed from stories passed along orally- making it the end player in a very long game of broken telephone.
Fourthly, most of it was exaggerated (again, broken telephone).
