A very haunting video, a reflection of his life and how, in the end, we often have a pile of regrets.
Interesting note: The most haunting thing about the video, which I saw commented on in a documentary on Cash, is the faraway, tragic expression on June Carter Cash's face---
She had just been diagnosed with the cancer that would shortly kill her, but kept this information secret from everyone, including Johnny, while the video was being shot.
She knew she was dying when the video was being made.

Oh, that's a heart-breaker! I think he's talking about regrets, about all the money and drugs and rich food and materialism that he realizes did him no good.
But I wonder, with the images of "the other JC" interspersed, whether it could not be interpreted that his religion has let him down.

this video gives me chills
amazing song ... very haunting
but it is almost as though he is saying goodbye isnt it
did he know he was dying ? ... i dont think he did
the song also has a lot of sentiment for me for personal reasons also
so powerful

He has riches and all but has no one...everyone left him.
