I am traveling to India and was wondering if power converters for American products really did work. I need to charge my digital camera battery, but don't know whether or not the power converter would actually work. Has anyone who has been to India know if the power converter will work for American products?

Depends on the charger. Look at the label on the charger. If it covers 100V to 240V, then it will work in any country. All you need is a plug adapter.

If your camera uses AA batteries, take along a few non-rechargeable batteries. You may run out of juice while visiting a photogenic spot. Lithium batteries, while expensive, last a long time relative to alkaline batteries. Your trip to India is one of those special occasions where you don't want to miss those great shots.

If your charger doesn't cover voltages above 130V, then you will need a converter. A small ** transformer ** based converter is recommended. You will need a 220V to 120V converter.

Most things that have some sort of block on the plug will tell you if it converts (should say something like 100v-220v for example). Living here, I've found almost everything of mine converts (laptop, cell phone charger, external hard drive, PSP, [not Nintendo DS though], digital camera, wireless router [keep in mind I'm from the US where its 110v]) However, the only things I need a converter for are Xbox 360 and Wii. Everything else just needed simple adapters that I got for 50 cents a pop. So I'd highly highly suggest coming here first and checking out what you need and dont need cuz adapters are cheap as funk.

Yes; I've got a Canadian (120 Volts) TV on my British (230 Volts) power supply. I have a Converter that drops the Voltage from 230 Volts to 120 Volts and it works perfectly fine.

Usually, with most digital cameras like my Nikon D80, it has a charger of120v-240v. check your charger and see if its 120-240 voltage. the charger/adapter supplied with your camera is good anywhere if its 120v-120v
