The first answerer has it mostly right....just doing that alone will only produce a slow, gradual change. Most folks will only lose about 15-20 pounds, in anywhere from six months to a year.
The reason why that's so variable is because of *how* you "cut out soda". If you get rid of soda entirely and *replace it* with an equal amount of *plain tap water*, you might lose a little more weight a little more quickly, because your body needs to stay hydrated to lose weight. Water is a good thing.
However, if you just replace it with diet soda or coffee, you still end up with the caffiene problem, can end up dehydrated, which slows things down.
But still, cutting out soda is *one* small positive step you can make that will, eventually, make some difference. Soft drinks generally have way the heck too much sugar, and in particular too much "high fructose corn syrup" which really isn't healthy. I put that in quotes so you can copy it, paste it and search it, no typing needed.
If you have the time to wait it out, you may also want to look into eating more hot, spicy foods. They can nudge up your body temperature a *little bit*, which can also cause a small, positive change over a year's time.
I hope this helps....and do what you can, every little bit helps. ^_^

You can't safely lose 30 lbs in a month without having negative consequences...too much weight loss can cause all kinds of problems if done too quickly. I lost 35 in a month and a half before and my hair started falling out...
Soda actually can cause alot of weight gain especially if you drink the soda with sugar. Even diet soda isn't good for you though...I would recommend trying Crystal Light, lowering calories and doing at least some light exercise. Try not to eat after 9pm...

It depends on the person. Personally, I rarely have sodas anyway, so cutting them out of my diet completely wouldn't make a difference. If you start drinking more water instead of coke, you'll notice a huge difference in your looks, performance, and overall general health. However, you need to indentify some unhealthy foods that you regularly have that are unhealthy for you, on top of that. Do you eat a muffin everyday for a snack after work or school? Ditch that for a portion of fruit. Small changes like that and you'll be loosing weight steadily and healthily.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

dont go for diet soda though anything diet is higher in sugar and carbs so that it can be 0 cal and less fat.

30 pounds in one month is incrediably dangerous and not healthy at all. You will lose weight by cutting out soda and reducing your calories, but not 30 pounds. 30 pounds is unrealistic.

Yes, you don't lose very much in a year. But upwards of 15 pounds is pretty good if you think about it.
It's better to cut out fast food, white sugar, and white breads and sweets if you can.
