Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) is okay to give to a dog and even cats at the appropriate dose. It is used for anagesic, antiinflammatory and antiplatelet effects. As with any medication, there is the potential for adverse effects such as gastric or intestinal ulcers, vomiting, and hypersensitivity reactions.
The dose is 10-25mg/kg orally for dogs two times a day. For cats, it is 10mg/kg orally once every other day. I would give it at a lower dose and see how it works. Even 1mg/lb has seen to produce positive results. Thats like giving an 81 pound dog 81mgs (a baby aspirin).

Look it up in the Sixth edition of Plumb's veterinary drug handbook before discrediting any veterinarian who says that its okay to give aspirin. Reading the literature is always better than reading what people have to say on the internet.

If your vet is closed, call a 24-hour emergency vet. Tell them you were told to give it, but you need a dosage for a 15 pound dog. They will calculate it and tell you.

It would be best if you gave your vet a call to get the correct dosage.

Use the directions on the bottle. At 15 pounds your best bet is to start with a half of pill. Unless the bottle says to use a whole one.
