My question pretty much sums it up. But where do I store it in my vehicle? Can I have ammunition?
We will be on vacation for around 3 weeks and I was wondering if I could bring my pistol with if it was unloaded? We will be visiting aroung 8 states (driving) on the eastern seaboard. I could leave it with my mother but she doesn't want it in the house and my house was broken into last year so I don't want to leave it here either. Whats the rule when entering into other states with firearms??

Here is my link to all the info you need.
Check what states you permit is good in then when you go to states it's not good in you will have to lock it in your trunk unloaded in a case separate from the ammo.
Just hope there are no mass killings while you are in those states, because it will take you a while to get you gun to stop them.
God Bless

FYI Jesus G, New Mexico does accept your Arizona permit.

You will have to obey each state rules for handguns and carry issues,
Just because you have a legal gun and valid permit in state A, does not precluded state X from charging you with a crime in state X
esp if you are going to travel in the north east, like NJ or say NY city of DC better check on the laws

(If you are in the military or are a federal law enforcement officer, then this answer may not apply to weapons that you are required by the federal government to carry.)
If any of the states has a law that prohibits all persons who do not have permits/licenses from that state from carrying guns in their cars, then you cannot bring it. If all the states allow firearms to be carried by persons who have licenses/permits from their home state, you are probably fine.
Also, if you have to return home by airplane due to an emergency, you cannot carry the weapon on the plane.
You have to check the laws of each state individually.

Then no you cannot carry your weapon with you on vacation. Loaded or unloaded doesnt matter. If you want the weapon safe guarded, most police departments will allow you to voucher your weapon with them and pick it up when you return. I'm a full time cop and I keep some of my off duty weapons vouchered at the station house.

OMG, what kind of question is this? In certain states it is illegal to store weaponry and such article in a motorvehicle. Leave it in the safety deposit box it you want.
