I have been experimenting with a PL filter on my 75-300mm Tamron lense. When I try to focus on my shot, it seems to always be blurred, I know that you can turn the filter to change the image contrast, but if I remove the filter, the image is perfectly in focus. I have checked the glass for finger prints, debris, etc, is there anything else I should know??

I believe you have a Linear Polarizing Filter. It will definitely foul up your AF and metering. You need a Circular Polarizing Filter.
