In most of the psychosis or Anxiety/depression the same single drug works then why there are many type of medicines for the same to treat. Whether anxiety phobia, social anxiety, panic attacks, depresson-SSRI,Benzodiazapine works, like wise in Schizophrenia, MDP, other functional or organic psychosis Olanzapine / Risperidone works-then why different diagnosis. Why not the lessen the number of the disorder to facilitate the treatment. As When Olanzapine/Risperidone solves many psychotic disorder, so why many other molecules are in market.Alprazolam, Diazepam, Lorazepam,Nitrazepam, then why more and more zams are coming in the market almost every day claiming their supriority over other ? Is it lmprovement or marketing by introducing more and more drugs in developing country which is a big market for them as well for trials.

i think you are very right on this front doc.
I was thinking on the same lines not just the drugs that you are talking about but also so many others
another thing that i've noticed drugs which were cheaper and available in the market have suddenly disappeared and more expensive drugs have taken their place. The drugs that have been removed are labelled as having long term side effects.. which makes me wonder if it's really true at all!!!!

We do not know (exactly)
1. How psychiatric disorders develop
2. How these drugs are working
But psychiatrists know how to treat these problems from experience (all the experience from treating all these years by all professionals) or drug history.
In my opinion, psychiatry is only beginning to develop as a proper science.
Newer theories suggest that SSRIs help neurogenesis that may improve health in all aspects, may result in the disappearance of all symptoms including depression, anxiety or psychosis. Antipsychotics are more related with dopamine system. More data and theories are emerging every day.
Doctors are prescribing more than we needed due to marketing.

Come again -why not lessen the number of disorder boy how young are you ?Do you have any idea about a patients condition or the intricacy of clinical practise .Who are you anyway a medical rep that has been reading the literature that comes with the drug If not please don't try to understand any of this no one should ever have anything to do with any of these drugs since a little change makes a world of difference and only a competent person will be able to explain to you in full detail as to why so many formulations remember Man this has to do with the Central Processor and not the mouse........lol

Part of it is purely marketing. This is true.
However, that is only a small part of the picture. The bottom line, is that different meds with even slightly different formulations can net radically different results in different patients. One class of medications may, indeed, be capable of treating a variety of related psychiatric conditions.
Consider antibiotics. Some antibiotics are effective in addressing certain types of infection, whereas others are not. By the same token, a given antibiotic (e.g., amoxicillan) may be effective in treating both strep throat and lyme disease, but those two diseases are quite different. All antibiotics, however, are designed to assist the body in eradicating invading microbes. Some people will have adverse (or even allergic) reactions to some types of antibiotics, whereas others will not. There are plenty of "cillins" on the market, and more are introduced every year. Does this have to do with slick marketing or with real differences in medication / effectiveness? The answer, of course, is "both".

I think this is because generally the disorders each may require special care along with the medicine. such as counseling. not every mental disorder can be treated with the same style of counseling.
also though the medicines can be used for those different disorders, they are very different in characteristics.
also some medicines may work for some people but not for all.
one reason though that the same medicines are prescribed because of how they inhibit or promote certain functions of the brain. Depakote, which is used for depression, epilepsy, and migraines, one reason it is prescribed is because it helps correct the way that neurotransmitters work. This can be functional for both depression and epilepsy because it can both affect the thinking process and prevent seizures.
i think none are really superior, but there needs to be more treatments since not every medicine is affective for all persons.

The treatment period of different diseases are different and same medicines may not be tolerated by all the people with the same disorders. Some people are sensitive / they may respond in a different way to the same medicine when compared to the other person taking the same medicine for the same disorder. So don't think that all the medicines are same they have different actions for different people

You are absolutely right,my friend. This is one of the ironies of modern psychiatric practise. They have elaborate International Classification of Psychiatric Disorders and the simple logic is that each disorder is separated because each has its own pathology (Psychopathology),dynamics(Psycho dynamics) and Therapeutics.Yet, the whole of Psychiatry belies such a simple logic! It is a fraud committed on ignorant public giving an impression that psychiatric disorders are diseases like any bodily diseases and there is treatment for each! Isn't it unethical Sir?
