According to a Mormon who answered a question I asked 6 months ago, once upon a time there was a war in heaven during the 'pre-existence' - the good guys won and were white. The bad guys lost and became demons. Those who were neutral or did not fight bravely were born with non-white skin. The bravest of the brave were born to Mormon families.

I understand that US law forced Mormons to quit racial discrimination (and polygamy).

Would any Mormon care to tell us what percentage of card bearing Mormons are non-white?

I would hope so, because one of the men who ordained me to the Melchizedek Priesthood a few months ago was a black Mormon missionary living in my ward.

Of course they can be missionaries. The LDS Church does have many black missionaries all over the world. I have met many black missionaries in the USA and other Countries.

Yes, there are many black missionaries, and over 500,000 black members. Black members of the Church are entitled to full membership in the Church, without any restrictions. There are many black members that serve as local and church-wide leaders.

Now. They use to bar black from participation from Mormonism, but backtracked on this doctrine once the civil rights movement began.
