Taoism (or Daoism) is the English name referring to a variety of related Chinese philosophical and religious traditions. Taoism has never been a unified religion and has always consisted of different teachings based on many different original revelations. Therefore, different branches of Taoism often have very different beliefs. Nevertheless, there are certain core beliefs that all the schools share.

No Gods. Not anything really.
The way of Taoism is referred to as the empty way. It is far more a philosophy than a religion.
This is going to be harder to explain than I thought. Much harder.
Much of the thought and attitude that underlays Zen Buddhism is Taoist in nature. The way is empty and meaningless, without form. Act spontaneously in accord with your nature. A gateless gate.

I would suggest you start your study by going to a Daoist Tai Chi class. Usually they are free and the cost is just for what the hall costs. (many groups practice outside or in community centers so they can remain a free service)
Tao Chi is actually a Taoist version of a martial art form. On addition to an excellent exercise system they will teach you the philosophy.
Yes, that would be the best way to approach learning about Taoism.

By the way. Daoism or Taoism is the same. It is just the problem of which letter English uses to represent the Chinese "D/T" sound.

The Tao Chi is basically part of the Daoist system of physical meditation. Zen is almost totally in line with Taoist sitting meditation.

Tai Chi, Kung Fu, Karate, Zen (buddhism) etc all grew from the teaching of the monks who survived, and were forced into hiding, after the destruction of the Shaolin Temple.

It's regarded as an Eastern Philosophy here in the West.
Read about it here if you don't know much about it.

Taoists believe that people are born good and stay good. They believe that all answers can be found in nature. They invented gunpowder to scare off evil spirits.
