They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

I thought that God wanted people to love Him sincerely.
Clearly God is forcing people to believe in Him.

And killing? How come God is so vicious and blood thirsty?
Putting so much killing orders in the Bible is just absurd.
Kill gays, kill witches, kill non-believers, kill brats, etc.

Those laws were for Israel but that doesn't disclaim the fact that God made those laws.

Is that a God of love?
So what if the Isreal people were off path from God? Does that make it ok for God to kill kill kill and rape and have slaves and such?

God's evil laws in the O.T. just shows how evil God is not how loving He is.

So why call Him God of love?

Being a Pagan it doesn't make a difference to me, I can belieive this as a possibility no one knows who is correct from theist to atheist. All we can do is continue to debate it. I doubt we will have an answer in our life time though, but I wish we did because I want an answer to that big question. Is there one god? Many gods? Or no gods? That is all I really want to know 100% one day. and if their is alien like LOL.

Did you forget to include that this was a WAR???????????

God does NOT force anyone to believe.
You either do or don`t . Simple enough.

I have read many versions of the bible. NO where does it say to KILL Gays, witches, brats, or otherwise.. Where do you people come up with this?

Oh, I know, You haven`t read the bible.. .. Oh, wait, now, I get it, You choose a part here and there, and pick it to death without even knowing what you are talking about.. Tsk Tsk tsk.. I think you have an anger issue and you should really try to put some effort into researching what you are attempting to opine on..

You don`t become a brain surgeon, or a race car driver, or a Chef by reading one book. It takes time. And plenty of research.. Might I suggest that you take some time and find out what the original bible says.. I can help you with that.. {:-)

Peace & God bless from Texas <><

So, if you believe that there is a God, don`t you think that just MAYBE he knows better than you about how things should work? Since when should the finite minded creation question the all powerful, all knowing, ever present, creator of everything ever who can speak worlds into existence and give life just by the breath of his nostrils? The Lord who can hold THE UNIVERSE in ONE HAND knows everything that has happened and everything that ever will happen!
Do you know the answer to every question anyone could ever ask? God does! Do you know what`s going to happen tomorrow? God does! Can you create life from nothing or from the dust of the earth? God can! Do you know exactly how many hairs are on your own head? God does! Do you know exactly how many grains of sand are on all the sea shores all over the earth? God does! Can you control nature or the weather just by speaking to it? God can! Where were you when he placed the stars and the planets in their places?
Where were you when he created the concept of dna?
Let`s see--who would know better, you or God? HMM?
I just don`t see why your tiny little finite pee brain can`t get around the grand scheme of the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!!

Well there's your problem, the NAB. You can't know the bible or the message in it if you use the wrong one.

Go and change the spark plugs in your car with a screw driver if you're so high in your understanding of natural things.

The text you have used as an example bolsters what I have said. You don't understand because you don't seek out the truth with all your heart and soul, so because you do not, the word is not reveled to you.

If that's you're take on my Father, then wait until you meet me in the battle of Armageddon. I won't have to show you mercy or grace there either.

God of the Old Testament is cruel. Good thing Christians have the New Testament but I wonder how Jewish people could deal with such a God. God in the Old Testament also forgave but he also had a temper and he showed it. In many religions besides Judeo-Christian, the Gods or God are very cruel I think it made people more fearful and respectful.

My friend have you read the old testament? All the other people around Israel worshiped Gods like Baal search the name on the internet to find out some of the horrible things his followers did, one of which was child sacrifice by burning them to death as they beat drums to drown out their screams. At that time all who did not worship God worshiped Baal or Moloch or worse. If you knew a man who had and would burn a five year old alive would you want to kill him? In the new testament Jesus did preach love and forgiveness. But as for the people ordered killed in the old testament they where as bad as the Nazis if not worse and you never hear anyone hollering oh how could we kill those poor Nazis!?

I think I made my point and feel free to search those names if you don't believe me

God has never made a single law. God is love, period. God is not some old, bearded man in a white robe. God is not a figure from a Renaissance painting.

_People_ make laws. Even the Ten Commandments are simply the rules for Peaceful Human Co-Existence 101.

It is people who decide to kill witches, kill homosexuals, kill what-have-you. It is people who even decide to kill the enemy, and they have to compartmentalize their minds to do it, because the impulse to love is so strong. To believe in love is as natural as breathing.

How can I be forced to believe in love, when I experience it and see its effects in others, every day of my life?

So, no, you haven't demolished my faith, at all. I don't think you could.

You cannot understand the things of GOD without a relationship with Him. Once you personally experience that love, you don't worry about someone "demolish your faith". GOD made His laws for the good of His people. He is in charge so HE gets to make the rules. HE loves you even when you don't love Him.

If you can't understand that love and hate walk a fine line and both need each other to make the circle. Then you don't know what love is yet as you have not experienced it.

Wait till you are a parent and you will easily grasp what love is and why G_D does as he does.

Does your parent hate you when they spank or punish you? No, they do it cause they love you that much to ensure you walk a right path.

Plus you are thinking that flesh is life, it isn't. This flesh body is jail for us, few grasp that. Life is what is inside these flesh bodies... our soul.

Trying to find a silver bullet that eliminate faith is impossible. They'll have have some kind of magical fallback position to retreat to. God can't be evil because God is good nothing is good unless God says so, ect...

All you can do is try to get them thinking and start questioning what they believe. You've got to overcome their wishful thinking and get them to look at reality as it is. It's a guerilla warfare style approach.
