History is written by the winners, not the losers. If we had lost the American Revolution, the history books would label the revolutionaries as terrorists. As for the Mujhadeen being labled as "noble", well history has proven that they were far from that. Remember, these "freedom" fighters became the Taliban and the current warlords of Afghanistan. Hardly anything noble and free in forcing your religion and will down the throats of the people you were fighting to free.

They very well could be. I would think that the Afghans during the early 80's wouldn't really be fighting today but would be more or less the commanders of todays insurgents. That is not true for all I suppose though. Some faught the same way the American people would if our country was under attack and didn't continue with such activities. Every generation has that one or sometimes more people that can radically influence mass culture by preying on their weeknesses. Such as the Hitlers or even what gangs today do for people on the street. So it is quite possible that todays terrorist, rebels or insurgents could be tomorrows freedom fighters for their own cause.

Nothing was viewed as particulairly noble of afghanistans fighters against the soviets by the U.S. the relationship was always seen by us as limited in fri9endliness to be that of just sharring a goal. Afghanistans fighters will never be seen by the west as freedom fighters because they will always lose. However, this has not always been the case for "terrorists." Americas minutement that originally antagonized the revolution were a minority. Most Americans had loyalties or indifference to paying the taxes and being run by an "outside" government. Today we see them as freedomfighters.

The term "Terrorist" is subjective, but the others aren't. As such, whether or not the insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan and the United States military should be considered "terrorists" is up to each individual person.
It's all well and good when you think you're always the good guy of the world, but not everyone else thinks so.

I truly find it difficult to believe that so many Free people cannot understand the difference between a freedom fighter and a terrorist.
People; its quite simple, a terrorist purposely targets innocent civilians (women and children), they are his primary target. His mission is to instill fear and terror into these people and their families.
A freedom fighter targets the military targets that they are against, not his neighbors.
And for those who hate the USA, we do not target women and children on purpose, they are not our primary target, facts are that they are who we are protecting in Iraq. Think about it.That is think about it for yourself.

No.
The idea that the difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter is based on your political opinion is nothing more than intellectual sloth.
Terrorism is defined by a groups actions - not their politics.

Your yesterday, today and future terrorists will always be terrorists.
Those who fight for freedom do not actively seek to harm and kill civilians, those they claim they fight for. Lets face it, in war, there will always be civilian casualties, thats just how it is, but those who fight for freedom will die to protect it, not to destroy it.

In the seventies the Afgans were freedom fighters but america at the time was handing guns and money to both the Russians and Afgans, also the Russians and America were enemies at the time. So America helped create the Taliban.
