Yes indeed you are a smuck. There was no telephone, email or public postal service in those days. To send a letter you would have had to be able to read and write and afford such materials as papyrus and ink and know where to send it - because there were no such things as guest houses or hotels in those days nor a directory of temporary dwelling places.

There was no room @ the inn.There were no reservations back then, I'm sure. Besides, they were a newly married, young, expectant couple. They didn't have a whole lot of money.

Haha, good question. I think it may be because they didn't have phones and they were on a long journey at the time....
Actually, all the stuff about jesus being born and before him being is more than likely bullsh*t. They wouldn't have known he was a Yogi until he was older, or at least born....
But maybe they interviewed his parents for the Bible...

he hadn't planned on having to go to bethleham. it was a order from authorities that he had to go register in the town of his birth, he didn't have time to make plans and when he got there everyone else that had ever been born there had gotten the same order so the inns were all full and the only place they could find when mary went into labor was the barn, besides that it is also symbolic, even though jesus was the savoir of the world he came into the world with the company of the domesticated creatures
