I don't think it's wrong to feel that way at all. That's pretty much how I feel, so there you go :)
(((HUGS)))
So sweet of you to give that lady a lift. And yes - that's what religions are supposed to be.

I don't think you're wrong to feel this way. In a perfect world, there would be no "religion," but only the "hope and love for humanity" that you speak of. Since we don't live in a perfect world, religious holidays have become merely cultural celebrations to SOME that can separate one religious group from another. I'm glad to know that you don't see things this way.

You are correct. Religion is supposed to be a place where people come together to enliven one another about God. Frankly most religious organizations have become about money, power, position, and I, me and my. Unless one understands that God is One with Many Names such as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Elohim, Vishnu, Rama, etc. and that anyone praying to God or the highest truth, are all actually praying to the Same One Eternal Supreme God. if ones religious organization is not giving them more and more love for God and humanity and all living beings, it is simply a waste of time. I know of a few religious organizations that think this way and that would be Unitarians, and Krishna Consciousness, and some Hindus, and of course certain individuals of all traditions. But frankly still when it becomes a huge organization the same old nonsense comes up in the places of People even with the Highest Universal understandings. Oh well at least we an try to realize this mood ourselves. Your God is my God. World Peace. Very nice e-book with this wisdom. on www.stephen-knapp.com very enlivening site.

I am a christian and do believe religious institutions shoud be an icon of hope and love-not merely people segregated for belonging to a specific religion of denomination.
There were no real "religion's or denomination's" in the Bible.
Just out of curiosity-I noticed you capitalized the "L" in love, but not the "h" in hope. Do you feel loved?

I think any institution that would promote peace and love for humanity would be exclusive of religion. Religion teaches nothing but hatred, bigotry and greed. Therefore it is more of a divider than a unifier.

Well you can't change people's beliefs so no matter what, theres always at least 1 follower of a religion, meaning theres always going to be a fight.

but unification never works. It's against man's basic nature. someone has to rule, someone has to serve, that is the nature of man and it always comes out in the end. I wish it were not so but it is. Jesus knew that and did not deceive us.
That's why the Antichrist will be able to pull off the one world religion, then reveal who he is when everyone is completely deceived and have his way with all the sheeple.
