maybe they are insecure in their own sexuality.
there are plenty of women who definitely are the type who "need" a man in their lives, so much so they are with very negative and controlling men, which just causes them to be even more needy and clingy.
rather than make assumptions that a lady with no man in her life is a lesbian, i tend to see her as a strong woman or one who has had her fill of knowing the wrong kind of man for herself.
