my autistic son has yet another ear infection and is on antibiotics. the medicine contains orange flavouring containing propylene glycol. he is more hyperactive than usual, has any one experienced hyperactivity with kids medicine. the name of the antibiotic is PRIMACINE,erythromycin ethyl succinate.

those of you who have neurotypical kids may not realise that it can be many other things causing increase in hyperactivity, including pain and the lovely full moon we have, i need to know if this medicine has caused any problems for others!

Go back to your doctor an request REGULAR penicillin or amoxicillin. Unless he's allergic these are the things you should insist on him getting. They have less side effects, and cause less damage to vital organs.
Colors, preservatives, additives, and processing, all these things build up in a child system and cause hyper activity. Make sure he's not getting them from other things, like boxed foods (such as mac n cheese) or drinks (koolaid or caprisun). If its processed its a simple starch, simple starches are EXACTLY like sugar in a body. Add to the fact that preservatives contain stimulants that cause the body to react just like it would to caffeine. All you're doing is causing a problem.
Yeah, take him back an insist on a different medication.

They use these flavored antibiotics, to get small children to take their medicine, they have other flavors, I believe, i.e., banana, as your pharmacist.
" Propylene glycol, which is much less toxic than ethylene glycol, is metabolized to compounds that are normal constituents of the citric acid cycle" (*1)

i know that autistic children are also known as cristal children and reiki helps parrents so much for their kids because yo can also comunicate with your energy.... the color yellow #5 (tartrazin) , causes hiperactivity, also red #40,
