I had cataract surgery on my right eye Dec. 5.I had a lens put in. My eye gradually got better, but then this morning at 4a.m. I lost the vision that I had gotten. It's worse than it was before I got the surgery. Everything is very blurry, I can make out shapes and tell light from dark, but that is it, and its only in my right eye, I can still see out of my left. I have had no, problems at any of the follow up visits, and don't go back until Feb 23 to start surgery for my left eye. Has anyone had this problem before. As you know its the holidays,I called the emergency # for my doc but have yet to hear from him, and I am very much worried.
One last thing last night, I was watching tv and noticed like a gold ball go across my eye?? But I could still see. please if anyone has any info I would love to know. I hope this is normal.

Thanks

If you havn't heard from your surgeon, go to the ER.

Could be a number of things, most serious and most unrelated to the surgery.

I had the same surgery (both eyes) approx 8 years ago. Keep calling your Doctor to get the answer, hopefully it is part of the healing process. I never had that problem, each day it just got better. As for the "gold ball", I think you are describing what they call a floater. Hopefully it will lessen on its own, but it is normal and irritating. They tell me it is something I have to get use to.

Did your doctor tell you about the lenses darkening over
time? Six years after my initial surgery, the world seemed really dark. Went in for eye exam and found out lenses had darkened, which takes a "surgery" to zap your lense with a lazer to clear up the dark. It is a one time deal . They should have told me about that, though. Again, call your Dr. as your description of problem doesn't seem right. Good Luck.

You could have a detached retina or the implant may have dislodged and shifted position. This warrants a trip to your emergency room. Letting it go on too long could cause a permanent loss of vision. Good luck, now go. . .
