He's had a stroke... this is normal..Memory loss and lack of concentration could be the onset of dementia. He's lucky he doesn't have paralysis from the stroke.. If he's having problems with balance, get him a cane or walker. See if you have in home care available in your area. Many insurances cover for someone to come in 1 or 2 hours a day to help him out and provide companionship. Is he on any meds? You can't diagnose someone unless they go to the doctor.

His mental faculties are on the decline. May be due to age, micro-infarctions or Alzheimers. There probably not much that can be done. Some symptoms like dizziness and balance problems can be treated with drugs.

He has the after affects of a stroke and it sounds like his situation is normal under the circumstances. Get him out more, he needs to exercise his body as well as his mind.

it sounds like your dad is depressed over his life now. he should see his doctor and get him in for reg. visits too. Also start him on a exercise program to get his blood pressure up and work his heart. This will get him off the couch and away from the TV. a walk after each meal would be better too.

Ask the doctor to refer him to an Occupational Therapist. This person will be able to assess your dad's needs and develop a restorative program.

well maybe he's in a trauma cause of something. My advice is to let him see a phsyciatrist .And encourage him to go outside or just patiently wait until he has the guts to go to a meeting.I think he may have brain problems or something..^_^

Sounds like he doen't want to face exercising, but exercise is important to him. I don't think you can do anymore but encourage him to go out. Make it sound like you need something, want something like ice cream or something else. Good luck with your efforts.
