When He was in the womb of Mary, He was God. When He was a baby boy lying in the manger, He was God. When He was a youngster growing up in Nazareth, He was God. And when He was dying, He was God.
As a spirit being, prior to His human birth, He was infinite in knowledge, power and presence. As God He would know everything and have unlimited power to act on any object, anywhere. But if He was human, He could not do everything. He would be limited to the normal abilities any normal human being would have. He could not have been both infinite and finite simultaneously. So......the answer to your question would be an emphatic.......yes!

No, I don't think he already knew. How many babies and children know at that age what they are called to be?
I think he grew into the knowledge by living and observing the religious practices his family followed and seeing how his family and other people were treated by the clergy of the day. I think that was quite sufficient to set him on his path as a religious reformer without him needing to have known from birth that he would set out to reform Judaism.

Jesus did not know until his baptism by John in 29CE when God sent his dove upon him for his spirit. Then he realized at that point he was the Messiah,
Imagine a teenager with those powers he had!! That would have been something that he wasn't mature to handle!

I believe that He knew. We also need to remember that He was to experience everything that man experiences in this world. Including human thought and dread of things to come. When He was in the garden of Gethsemane, the human in Him asked if it be possible, could the Father pass this bitter cup from Him. Then He said but your will be done. Knowing that He must go to the cross. Can you imagine growing up and knowing what was to come? The beatings, scourging, humiliation. Excruciating pain? And yet He did it for us. He is the only one who could. You could say that just growing up with the knowledge of all of this, and knowing that it will happen to Him, was a sacrifice all in itself.

He always knew it. In the Bible, when he was young, his parents headed home thinking he was in the crowd. But when evening came they could not find Jesus. So they went back and found him in a Synagogue discussing the Torah.

The jury's still out on whether or not Jesus even existed.
I wasn't there, so I don't know. Were you there? Were any of us there? NO. So how would we know?
I just love the way people talk about things that may or may not have happened 2000 years ago as though they know anything at all about them.

Considering that when he was 12 and allegedly "lost" he couldn't figure out why everyone was upset when it was obvious he would go to "His Father's house" when he couldn't find mom and it was time to go. So, I'd say he had a good idea what was up.

That's a good question!
I think he knew because he was a lad and teachiing in the temple and his mom couldn't find him. When she did find him he said "didn't you know I would be doing my Father's business?" Referring to his heavenly father not his step dad, Joseph. So there you go.
