First of all, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormonism) is a beautiful Christian religion, not a cult. This very question has been in the news lately; several reporters have pointed out that even the Southern Baptist Convention (a very large evangelical organization in the United States) lists Mormonism under the category "newly developed religions," not "cults and sects." Additionally, a recent poll suggested that half of white evangelical Christians do believe that Mormonism is a Christian religion (not a cult).

It is misleading to state that Mormons believe Satan and Jesus are brothers without further explanation. Mormons believe that God the Father created all things, so He created both Jesus (God the Son), Lucifer (Satan), and all mankind. Jesus and Lucifer are "brothers" in the sense that God the Father created both of them, in the same sense that Hitler, Mother Teresa, Albert Einstein, and I are all "brothers." It doesn't imply any special affinity or friendship between Jesus and Lucifer. Obviously, they are on opposite sides of the whole good/evil divide.

The Mormon Church itself has clarified this issue: "Like other Christians, we believe Jesus is the divine Son of God. Satan is a fallen angel. As the Apostle Paul wrote, God is the Father of all. That means that all beings were created by God and are His spirit children. Christ, however, was the only begotten in the flesh, and we worship Him as the Son of God and the Savior of mankind."

Mormons do believe in jesus. We have the bible also. However, we also believe in another book called the Book of Mormon. We don't have our own bible. We have the same bible other christians do. So, we aren't a cult! People like to make up stuff about our religion to make us look bad. About Jesus and Lucifer being brothers. Everyone in heaven are brothers and sisters, so that would imply that jesus and lucifer were also. It doesn't mean we think they came from the same mother. To reply to 'spiritual gunslinger' above, we don't think we can become God, however if we keep the commandments we will be rewarded in heaven. We won't
'become God'

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon is actually just a nickname).

1) Yes, we believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and the Savior of mankind - that is the single most central doctrine of our faith.

2) We read the King James Bible too - and we have The Book of Mormon too, which is another testament of Jesus Christ, written by ancient prophets in another part of the world.

3) We think Satan is "the bad guy" and should be avoided at all costs.

They are not a Satanic Cult.
Mormons believe in Christ but in a form incompatible with Historic Christianity
They use the King James Bible and they have other public revelations like the Book of Mormon, which seems to be on a par with the Bible

First no they are not a satanic cult. Two, they do believe in Jesus and God and the holy spirit. Yes, they use the king James version of the bible but also have the book of mormon. It is like a manual to life.

But i have to say, it's irking me to no end to constantly see mis information out there about Mormons and their faith. I dont mind the questions, but this constant thing about them be satanic cult, being non christian, being non believing of God.

Please do your own research on the faith, dont just believe everything you read on the internet or that someone tells you, Stop a missionary and talk to them. If you dont want them to visit your home, then say so, they will respect that, but ask them they can tell you all kinds of things with in the reason of the mormon faith. or visit the www.lds.org web site

We believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Redeemer.
He is the same Jesus Christ which mention in the Bible.

Our Book of Mormon is not another Bible. Only people with narrow mind would say its another Bible.

We worship God the Father not Satan, definitely not a cult.
Freedom of choice is hightly taught and protected in our doctrines.
