It's one of the more intriguing prophecis to come around in the last 2000 years, and I'm sure those who dismiss it with a closed mind do not know anything about the galactic alignment on 12/21/2012, one in which we have no idea how the multiple ancient cultures who knew about the date knew about when we have figured it out in the last 100 years. It's going to be a time of massive electro-magnetic energy, which could possibly cause solar flares which could mess with electricity, or at it's peak, cause a pole shift, which is of course a worse case scenario, but these have happened regularity throughout our earth's history and in 2012 while the chance is still small, it's much greater than normal.
It's a fascinating date from both a scientific and astrological perspective, much more so than Y2k ever was, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Ancient prophecies are often metaphors. I believe that it may have meant the end of the world....as we currently know it. The end of an Age. A new chapter in the earth's history. The earth goes through cycles, and we are due for one. Will humanity survive? Of course. A galactic alignment can mean many shifts in many things, but it is not an extinction level event by any means. I find this to be exciting, not frightening at all.

Lots of people will die in 2012. Lots of people die every day.
Since people have been trying to predict an end since the beginning, I wouldn't give much thought to it. Besides, if it happens, what can you do about it? Nothing. Just live and don't worry about it.

well Nobody really knows, but the point is that it could be sooner than that..
The last pivotal point was the birth of Christ and the next pivotal point in history will be the rapture of the church and the beginning of the great tribulation.
What if it happens today! Are you ready ? The end could happen at any time.

Didn't they say that about 1988 based on the number of years in a generation and when Israel became a nation?

Idiots are always coming up with dates when the world will end. It was 2002, 1990, etc. Don't worry about it. It's nonsense.

Only God knows when this world will end. Don't dwell on it. Focus on believing in God, living for Him, and being happy. If you truly have the love of Christ in your heart, death will not be an end. It will be the beginning. There is no fear in that.

You're going to believe a random scientist blabbering crap about asteroids?
So If I told you Jesus is not the Son of God, you'll believe me? No I bet you wouldn't, you would be me as thumbs down and I don't care. So you believe this random scientist, yet you don't believe the answerer of your question?
Shows how gullable you are.
