Every day I see the bash Bush or the anti-war/ anti military questions and they are always the same. We all know that the asker isn't serious and they know they are just trying to get a rise out of people. Aren't we all smart enouh to see that the surge has worked, just by looking at the numbers?

Yes but answering the question is not for the person that asked it-it is for some one who really wants to hear what people's opinions are so the answer is for people that are looking at the answers to see what people think. Only reason I spend time and effort doing it is because if people don't and some one is actually looking at the answers to figure something out all they would get is a one sided rant and might believe it is the truth. I don't think they should get a free ride or "publicity" to put out disinformation and untruths disguised as facts without giving a different view point for those people really wanting to know. I am smart enough to know that letting them do that and disguise it as the truth or facts will sway people who are unsure or don't know the facts and are looking so I answer with information and honest data.

ok I am going to take a chance, seems like everytime I try to answer military or political questions, I get blocked. What you need to ask yourself is, If we are ever able to even think about putting an end to this war, and hopefully that will be soon, will we ever be able to pull out?? or will the U.S have a permanent base in Iraq like Korea? If the surge is working what will happen when we start reducing troops? will the chaos return and is all of this worth the lives of so many U.S. Soldiers? and why are we trying so hard to rebuild Iraq ( with schools and hospitals etc; ) when New Orleans is still in ruins 2 years after Katrina? what will we have accomplished in the end? Do you think that one day the people of Iraq will return the favor? for that matter with all of the damage done, do you think anyone will ever help us out, if we should need it??
The fact is people rant because emotions are high on this issue, it has touched the lives of so many. whether or not someone actually knew a Soldier that has died in this war chances are they know someone that did, and a lot of people have completely lost faith in our out of control government

Because as Patriotic Americans we have to speak out against such unpatriotic statements, The politically correct police here will stamp out a post that is PRO- Troops, Pro- Support for our Governments actions, even some joking answers. Have a post that IS Anti- Troops, Anti- Support or not a joke and it will stay etched on the roles of Yahoo Answers forever. The system is flawed but it is the only one we have, the only other option is to forever forget about or boycott Yahoo answers and the Trolls who think they control it. I at this time do not feel that such actions are warranted SO DO NOT think that is what I am asking for. What we should do is answer all TROLLS with kindness, gentle correcting words / statements as much as possible, in other words Kill their Trolling with Kindness.

Sarge,
I can't agree with you more. However, those people who rant and bash America fail to remember that all of their freedoms . . . every last one of them are guaranteed not by the press, or the activist or the blogger or move on .org or code pink or Hillary Clinton. Rather instead all of those freedoms and rights are protected and were won by a U.S. service man or woman with a gun! I know that we have a ton of morons that speak out of the side of their mouths and know nothing of loyalty, combat or what it is like to never have freedom. But, I pray that the majority of Americans know better. And the haters will never acknowledge that the surge is working or that any good will come out of Iraq. Because they are the hate America first crowd.

2 points in most cases... In many others, they answer such questions because it is the only thing they can think of to do... Anything about the current situation... There are many who disagree with what's going on, but just don't know what else to do about it...

And... I mean absolutely no disrespect to you or our brothers in arms (I'm a disabled veteran; 10 years and a broken back) but the surge hasn't worked too well at all. Not if you count all the falsely imprisoned "suspects" and terrorist activity in other countries. All the war has really served to do is damage the American economy, lead to countless deaths of soldiers that shouldn't have been there, lead to the deaths of countless innocent Iraqi civilians, all but destroy one of the oldest civilizations on the planet, lost the trust that previous presidents have worked so hard to build with the rest of the world and cause the world's beacon of freedom and democracy to lose it all to paranoia the patriot act. The unfortunate truth is, if a terrorists job is to spread terror, and the president of the United States of America has increased this due to people's fear that they will be carted off to Guantanamo Bay (or worse) because of the color of their skin, the God that they worship, or other pathetic reason... The terrorists have already won.

I support our troops. I support the troops of every nation that has taken any part in this. I am a soldier, and they are my brothers and sisters. It is not the fact that they are following orders that I have a problem with. My problem comes with the fact that the administration has given the terrorists so much power by taking away so many of our freedoms...

I know my answer may have pissed you off Sergeant, but I would like to extend my appreciation for your service. Thank you.

"many things he has classified have absolutely nothing to do with the wars"

I find this statement interesting. If it's classified, how do you know it's got nothing to do with the war?

I wasted about an hour looking at an anti-recruiting website that felt that if we just stop providing the military with soldiers, all wars would end and everything would be, like, cool. Somehow I don't think the terrorists are going to do their part and just chill out.

How dare you use the truth to counter these arguments about the evil military and the meetings Bush must have with the Super Devil!!

True, they will never get it. My personal opinion is that they are so invested in failure they can't stand victory.

I've noticed it too - regardless of their political affiliation of beliefs, some people just come here debate and argue politics.

An answer to a simple question like "How many US soldiers died this month?" or "How does the surge work?" is never complete unless it has people throwing in some sort of angry opinion.

Well this is a free nation and people are going to act like they are still 10 years old. I understand no one would like to grow up but come on people give it a break.

Make your accusations somewhere else.

Or join in the fight to defend this great nation of ours in freedom of speech and make a difference yourself.
