I'm atheist, and I accept and understand evolution, and I don't think that it disproves the existence of God.
Evolution has NOTHING TO DO with God. Evolution explains the physical. No atheist with half a brain is going to say that evolution is proof that there is no God. It's the religious who keep making evolution a religious issue, and creationists who claim that evolution goes against the Biblical story of creation, and therefore "evolutionists" are trying to prove "God" doesn't exist.
There is nothing that we would like more than for the subject of evolution to be kept to science where it belongs. It's the religious creationists who keep forcing the issue into religion, and keep making it a question about God.

No, it doesn't really prove it (you can't prove a negative), but it does suggest it. Why would God use such a complicated method to create life instead of just creating each species individually? Also evolution clearly doesn't have a specific purpose -- humans weren't inevitable. It's pretty hard to reconcile that with the idea that humans were the whole purpose of the universe. But there are plenty of people who believe in evolution and God, so I'm sure they have some explanation.

It is impossible to "prove" a negative.
There is much scientific evidence to prove the theory of evolution, but not one iota of evidence to prove there is a "god".
"Gods" are only found in religious texts written by men who observed their small world around them. These men had no knowledge of the universe, or how anything worked. They didn't understand the natural world around them so when something unusual happened, they ascribed it to some "higher power"...
For instance, the ancients didn't understand solar eclipses... So, as the sun slowly "goes dark", they would fall on their knees and pray to their gods to bring back the sun. After a short period of time, Viola! The sun reappears.... To their minds, it was the "gods" that saved them and brought back the sun.
This if fully understandable from their point of view. It took centuries to slowly learn about our earth, our solar system, the galaxy and universe beyond. We still are learning - all the time.
What I cannot understand is how people in TODAY's world can hang on to the old superstitions and ancient supernatural beliefs. Anyone who spent anytime paying attention in school, or who reads a book, or watches Discover or History channel or listens to believable news broadcasts would HAVE to know how the universe was formed.
To continue to ascribe it to some mystical god thingie that snapped everything into existence 6000 years ago is certainly a mystery to me.

Evolution is about genetics and the development of the diversity of life forms on Earth. It does not adress the question of whether Gods exist or not.
I am not an atheist just because I think the evolutionary theory is accurate.
I am an atheist because I do not believe Gods exist.
If you are an agnostic you are an atheist by default, because all the word atheism means is a lack of believe in Gods.
It does not require the strong atheism stance of a firm belief that Gods are impossible.

Evolution is a fact. That in and of itself tends to disprove the allegations of the bible which in turn would tend to lead to serious questions regarding the validity of the bible. Now if the bible is the basis for the christian god, and is supposed beyond reproach since they believe it to be the word of god, then the fact of evolution does indeed disprove the notion of the biblical god.

Ask a theist to prove that god exists.
He can't.
So it is fair to assume that god doesn't exist.
And that means there is no need to use Evolution as a disproof of god.
No matter what happens in the field of Evolution, it cannot have any bearing on our earlier conclusion.

No, no I don't. It only proves that we weren't poofed here by some magical creator. I think the whole 4000 gods fabricated by humans since the beginning of time is proof enough that there is no possible way that some REAL god exists outside of people's minds.
You cannot prove a negative, however. Could you prove that invisible pink unicorns don't exist? No. Only that they do. And good luck with that.

The theory of evolution has absolutely nothing to do with religion. It is simply the best scientific explanation we have of the number and type of organisms we see on Earth today.
There are better reasons to question the Judeo-Christian belief system than evolution.

Atheist, and I do not believe Evolution disproves God in any way. It is a scientific explanation of the diversity and adaptation of species, therefore it cannot and does not speak of God. That being said it does say certain things about people's interpretations of how God did things, but not to God himself.

I think evolution and God can actually coexist but I've only met one Christian who agrees (college Bio teacher). I don't think evolution disproves God at all I just think there is no God all the same.
