Article 2 Section 1

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

(Doesn't say anything about gender)

If the draft is reinstated, women will be drafted.

During Vietnam they could not get enough nurses. Then they realized there were a bunch of MALE nurses out there so they had a special draft for 900 male nurses.

Today if that happened, all it will take is for one MALE nurse to file a sexual discrimination lawsuit with the ACLU behind him and they will be forced to draft women if the draft is intended to bring in particular occupations.

Also, there is no requirement for the "Commander in Chief" to have served even one day in the military. Look at Bill Clinton as an example.

Also, it was already determined that is a civilian job. When Bill Clinton tried to duck out of his Arkansas sexual harassment lawsuit by saying he was Commander in Chief therefore protected under the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act, the argument got laughed out of court. The courts recognize the position as a civilian position that is part of being President.

It's "Commander in Chief", and that is one of the roles of president. Not all ex-presidents have been military men by the way, and those that joined the military were not drafted...they all enlisted and became officers. A woman now has the same opportunity to enlist and become an officer. And in case you haven't noticed, there is no active draft, so what's your point?

I think I understand what you are asking. If the draft were to be reinstated....women would also be subject to the draft and therefore a woman would have the right to act as Commander In Chief.

Yes, women WOULD also be drafted (if the draft were to return)....women serve in combat equally alongside their male comrades.

Maybe a better way to word the question is "Why do women not have to register for the draft but are capable of being the Commander in Chief?"

Well for one reason is that we are an equal opportunity country. The position of Commander in Chief is a civilian position not a military one.

I have no problems with women becoming president, just not Hillary. I would have had more respect for her if she left Bill instead of keeping him, just to satisfy her own ambitions. That means she will do anything to get what she wants, even live with a whore of a husband and sacrifice her family so she can "achieve" more. Its detestable.

Because that is what the Constitution says and being President/Commander In Chief is allowed by any one meeting the Constitutional requirements set forth; draft eligibility is set by federal law and Congress can change that and expand it to incluse women if they so wish but you are talking apples and oranges.

The Commander in Chief is a purely civilian position. Overall command of the military lies with a civilian, the President. That's the way things have been for centuries, and that's how things should stay - military-controlled governments just end up being bad.

If you don't want a woman to be president, that's fine. Just don't vote one in.

Men can't be drafted either, and the position is Commander IN Chief.

The draft was used to acquire COMBAT troops. Currently, women are forbidden in a front line combat position....which, by the way, is stupid.....plenty of women in the world fight shoulder to shoulder with men.

Until Congress changes Selected Service rules, it will remain that way.

A president doesn't need military or combat experience to lead our country. We are NOT a military state lead by a military government.

Besides, serving in the military doesn't mean one will be a good president or know anything about warfare.....look at the current Idiot in the Oval Office if you don't believe.

If the draft is ever reinstated and woman are serious about being equal to men, then woman must be drafted as well.
