Do you actually have a bootable Vista disk in hand, one that you purchased.

If so boot to it.

GUESS WHO developed the Vista Upgrade Advisor??? Microsoft did !!! So do you think they will tell you NOT TO UPGRADE and lose a sale on a product????

Personally I decided long ago NOT TO go to Vista until I purchased a new computer with Vista installed.

According to PC Mag and other sources, Vista requires a lot more resources plus ALMOST ALL new drivers for whatever you have. It just ain't a good choice to upgrade a computer to Vista when most printer manufacturers don't have drivers to support it. The video card is maybe the most sensitive and that may be your problem.

Why do you want to install Vista? I have a computer that came with the touted Express Upgrade to Vista. This was a farce. I couldn't wait to UPGRADE back to XP. You will and I do mean WILL experience problems with much of your old software and you will almost certainly find you will need new drivers for all of your hardware, if you can even find these drivers.

Look at the disk there may be a scratch leading to a currupt file, take it back to the shop and ask for a replacement.
Even if the disk is not scrached there can still be a curruption on the disk.
If you do get it running i would advise you to disable windows aero and the side bar to help the system cope with vista.

Try unistalling it and then reinstalling it. It could be that maybe your cd went bad. If you still have problems contact microsoft

i had the same problem. i had to try to install it several times before it finally worked. it's just another typical problem that windows is known for: things that happen for no reason.

so just keep trying to install it several times.
