the following preparation are required
... make the body of the resident as a boat.
... make the faith in the lord as the sail..
... make the teachings of guru as rudder..
Then soul, the person riding the boat can reach the shores of the Lord...

The soul should have the will to dissolve with the Divine power.
Once the desire is there the soul will do sadhana to become pure.
Once the soul becomes pure without any imprints it becomes one with the Lord, just as a bubble in the water bursts & becomes one with the water.
It is the spiritual sadhana which will help the soul to cross the ocean of life.

Krishna says in the Gita.This material ocean is very difficult to cross, but by the chanting of the holy names it is like stepping over a hoof print of a calf." Very easy. By fully surrendering to the Holy names and the mercy of the Spiritual Master one can cross the ocean of Material existence and go to the Lord very easily. The Mayavadies are taking unnecessary austerities to try to control their senses, which is mechanical, and the end result is not the goal and is temporary. But the devotee (Bhakti Yogi) is already liberated in his service and surrender to the Holy names. God is His name. Thanks. ji.

i don't believe that there ia a human being know in that.
it is too deep and difficult to take about the soul , i think it is all back to the God , he knows everything and we didn't get from science other than the little.

there is no need for soul to cross anything just be here and now and you will become ocean yourself

This is my opinion only. I believe a long as you are a good person and do what's right and believe in God, you'll find your way across the ocean to God.

Lord Itself and no one else can help us! But for that we need to prove ourselves (via Sadhana) that we really need Him at any cost. In other words it happens with surrender, where you are not there. But when you are not there*, then He is.
* Note : When you are not there, even desire to meet Him will not be there too.

God is as much within us as outside,we can go deep within without crossing anything and discover Him, but to do that we have to go beyond our thoughts and emotions,maintain a total silence and empty space within, i.e.,cast off the thought induced,false world we have built around us.

Are you talking about the song "I won't have to cross Jordon alone"?....It is just symbolism meaning crossing from this life to the next one.
