If you run 3-5 times a week on pavement, when do you think you should buy new shoes on an average?

like once a year or maybe 6 months, it depends what kind of shoe they are, and how long you run everytime you run.

There are only rules of thumb about this and it depends on how much mileage you do. If you run 30 miles a week average, then every 6-7 months is a good time to replace. However, there are other factors that should be considered: Get new shoes if:

1. YOu have a nagging injury
2. The shoes look worn out on the bottoms
3. The shoes fail in some way (torn uppers or separating from bottom)
4. The cushioning quality has diminished

Good Luck

Hello!

I work is a running store and have done for many years.

Shoes last approx. 800 - 1000 km. If you run 20km a week then that is a year. This is a rough guide only.

Other factors are your weight, type of shoe (racing flat, racer/trainer or trainer) and the type of surface you are running on.

If you use the shoes in other situation like the gym or everyday walking, then that time can count. If it is an 'everday' she plus a runner your looking at 6months.

Whatever you do... Don't wash your runners! Thats just crazy and it kills them.

I am a runner and ive been a runner for about four years now, Ussualy i change my shoes once a year but i run on a track, a pavement is much harder, its also worse on your knees and shins, but besides that you should change them every 6-8 months or so and you should be good ^.^

By Air Force standards, we recommend changing running shoes every 6 mos unless the tread is more than 75% gone. One other way to tell is the tounge slides down the front of the shoe below the top lace (my personal standard).

Every 6 months if you're consistently running 3-5 times per week.

Every six months, because the EVA material gets compressed by then.

Of course, I've had my running shoes for four years and I definately don't have the same spring in my step (that might just be old age though).

It depends on how far you run, I try to replace my sneakers every 200 or 300 miles which is usually equal to about one track or cross country season. The cushion in the heels tends to wear out which puts more stress on your joints, especially if you're running on pavement.

I change my shoes, about once every different running season. I change them in the winter for track and then in the summer for cross country.
