Don't complain, people.
Over here in Italy milk now costs 1.40 euro (about $2) per liter. That would be between $7.50 and $8.00 a gallon. And I've heard it's going up again with the new year, as is a bunch of other stuff (gas, electricity...).
For a long time over the past couple of years my son was drinking 2 liters a day (he had had a complex hip operation, and seemed to instinctively crave a source of calcium afterwards), which means I was spending $120 and more a month just for milk.
And BTW, Italian salaries have always been lower than those in the U.S.
:-(

Edit: It seems, at least according to "rain" above, that Colorado is on a par with Italy! Incredible.

I've quit buying fresh milk and now use powdered or canned for most of my cooking.
But I can tell you that a small box (3 quart) s about $5.25, and a can I can find for a dollar someitmes on sale but usually is about 1.30 a can.
I was going to buy a quart of eggnog the other day, but it was amost 6dollars, so I thought the canned from Bordon's would be cheaper, its was 8.99 i think..
I think a a half gallon is somewhere around 5 dollars though.

I just paid $3.85 for a gallon of 2% yesterday at WalMart. I live in Pennsylvania.
We do have a dairy here in town. I don't know if it makes a difference or not though.
