The best was none at all. Unless you are a person with a major mental illness, it is best to go in for counseling, watch what you eat and exercise. Working out our problems is essential, not masking them with drugs that only make you a zombie.

I also found my faith in God was very important in keeping me from being depressing with all that goes on around me.

I was on Effexor XR (and then Effexor). It helped with the depression but for some reason I was eating NON STOP (that is not an exaggeration). I DO struggle with eating problems anyways but this was like nothing I had ever experienced. I went to counselors, etc... not suspecting the Effexor. I gained about 40 pounds (in less than a year)... and this is on a "gastric bypass" stomach... so you can see I'm not lying about the eating NON STOP.

You might say my weight gain was just a side effect of my eating disorder (and it surely contributed) BUT I changed to Wellbutrin and the binge eating just stopped... It wasn't a conscious thing on my part... I didn't even try to lose weight and dropped 23 pounds ... just like that. Now I'm having to work to lose the rest of the 40 pounds but the first 23 were with NO EFFORT... so Effexor did react with my brain in such a way as to make me crave food (carbs). I have since found out that increased cravings of carbs can be a side effect and I was just one of the ones who had that happen.

I think different drugs work on different people (and at different times) There may come a day when the Wellbutrin doesn't work as well for me as it is now. Good luck!

There is no one "best" antidepressant. The reason there are so many on the market is that what works for one person may not work as well for another. Depression is also a multifacetted illness and does not just have one cause so therefore there won't just be one effective treatment option.

I`ve been on them all at one time or another.Paxil has worked best for me.Zoloft isn`t too bad either.A lot depends on your symptoms.Stay away from Prozac !! Write down all your feelings and take it to a doctor. He will be able to put you on the right meds for your situation. There are many different kinds of depression and as many pills too. Don`t try to treat yourself. You could take the wrong meds and make things worse.

Well, i was always borderline with depression anxiety.. and i had a little bit of ADD... i toyed with antidepressants in the past and they never gave me good results... i tried many, paxel, celexa, remeron, even EFFEXOR.. they never did anything for me aside from making me more sedate, or even some of them making me more aggressive... i think most medications are terrible.. unless you really need them to function.

There are many wonderfu; anto depressants, but NONE are best.
We are all individual, and need medications prescribed by doctors .
Some good ones are karma, efexor, zoloft, zyprexa.
Sandy.
Ps take the list to a doctor and , the doc will see you are doing things correctly, by research and going to check out first with doc.
