Now according to the bible, after the big dookeroo between god and the devil, man will live on the earth in total peace and harmony, with all the animals etc. theres one problem with this. in 3.5 billion years time the sun becomes a red giant, and will engulf everthing in its path this side of venus, in which case all life on earth will be extinguished. so any idea how any kind of deity could prevent its ever so faithfull flock and all life on earth from becoming BBQ

a whole 10 points for the best expalnation, and by this i dont mean scripture quotations

there is concrete scientific proof that the sun is getting hotter and is expanding, and taken from the proof of other extinct solar systems, this has happend before and will happen to our galaxy

The truth, though many will not admit it, is that no-one knows. Personally I believe it is a beleif that has arisen from wishfull thinking, and yes, even if it were somehow true the sun's destruction would eventually take care of it. The truth is, no-one will know (even if they claim to) until we get to that time.

Considering that we are talking about the One who created all those suns also promising us eternal life, I would not be too concerned. If anyone would know how to put a sun on dim, it is Him.

Also, who is to say earth must always be our home? Perhaps in some future time, we will be directed to go to other worlds of which there are billions.

We already know by science, the human body was designed to renew itself forever. Rather than figure out how to make lives last, the problem is why it suddenly stops renewing itself. They have not been able to come up with a reason for humans to stop.

If you are looking for a logical, scientific explanation of everlasting life, you're not going to get one.

However, there are millions of people around the earth that believe in some kind of reincarnation. The hitch is that for the most part, we don't seem to remember our past lives.

I think 3.5 billion years is enough time to figure out an escape strategy. (for the big God or even us little gods)

Logic and common sense are not for believers. They need the promise of eternal damnation and the threat of infernal salvation.
It is fire and brimstone that they buy. Not theories about what might happen in the distant future.

Give them Heaven and give them Hell, but pass the plate often, and make them pay dearly.
-------------
O would say that life exists not in the individual being but in the genetic mess we are all part of. By the time the Sun Novas we will be no longer be humans but will have evolved into something else, or gone extinct. To hope for one human, one species or even one kingdom of the web of life to exist forever is just foolish fantasy.
Who knows about the future. Maybe the liquid water/carbon based life system on Earth will figure out how to infect distant planets and spead itself though the universe.

I think that the biggest problem is that moat Christians attribute the "who we are" with the physical. If the there is no physical, they can't rationalize us possibly existing outside of that therefore, any science that shows that the earth will no longer be here at some point confuses them as it contradicts their teachings. Quite the opposite is true though. The physical is not the true us but only a temporary vessel that we inhabit.

Of course it's a myth -- and by "myth" I mean allegory with deep symbolic meaning -- I never use the word "myth" to mean a bad thing, or a made-up thing. Very possibly it's an allegory for the Sun exploding and destroying the Earth -- which is a real bummer, but the story gives you the hope of a "New Heaven" and a "New Earth" you get to go to if you worshiped the right God (or called God by the right name). All books should have happy endings, right?

You must have watched the same TV program I watched, But I disagree with you, God intends Mankind to live on the earth worlds without end. Don't you think God knows how to control the sun, & to you know that God knows how to put a lot of water around the earth to act as a protection, as it was before there was oceans, You don't seen Oceans Until the Flood, But until then as the bible says they were seas, a sea is not as big as an ocean

I believe the Bible puts a time limit on the "life after Armageddon."

I believe the notion of everlasting life is based on the precondition of physical death. Only after dying will the believers be granted said gift.

There is some support from physics. We know that energy can neither be created, nor destroyed. Our molecules find "rebirth" as they get absorbed into the soil but, what happens to the energy we all run on?

No, we will not be living on earth-at least not this one, as seen here:

Revelation 21:1-8

Revelation 21
1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

6And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

7He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

The sun is not going to destroy the Earth. God said He would never destroy it again. No it's not a myth. Our Spirit will live forever.
