Absolutely. I use Suave. Rinse with 1/4 c vinegar (cider for dark fur, white vinegar for light fur) to 1 quart water. Rinse. Balances pH, removes any residual soap, removes tangles.

does your dog ever scratch at it self ... if it does this is proof that human shampoo is too harsh for it. yes sometimes you can use it on some dogs. I would not as you only need a small amount and you should not wash your dog as often as you wash your hair it does not have to be a big expense. If your dog is mostly inside do not bath it more than once a month. just keep it combed and if there is stuff around its eyes moisten a paper towel and wipe that away daily if need be using only water. a dog has oils in its coat that if you bath too often will be effected and can cause skin conditions. also do not spay human perfume on a dog. the chemicals can cause a allergic reaction in dogs.

The shampoo isn't really what is going to make her smell better longer-it's how well she is cleaned while in the bath. Start by brushing her really well to get out any loose hair and to loosen up the dirt and oil. Wet her down with lukewarm water and use Dawn dish soap-yes I said Dawn-and give her a good scrubbing with that first. Rinse that out and then use either a baby formula or very mild dog shampoo with teat tree oil in it. If the water appears to roll off her fur then she is truly clean and will smell so much better but she will also dry 50% faster.

you should never use human shampoo on a dog. We have a different PH balance. The Shampoo will dry out their skin causing them to itch severley. My favorite dog shampoo's are made by "Kelco". That shampoo is what professional groomers use and for show dogs that are shown in the show ring. I use these shampoo's on my own dog and they are made with all natural ingredients with NO harsh chemicals. They smell so good and make my dogs so soft and clean. You can possibly purchase it at a grooming salon in your area.

My favorites being "Wild Animal" &"Dirty Dog" Shampoo and "Ultra silk" & "Apple Oats" conditioner and the "De-Mat" conditioning spray.
If you can't find these shampoo's in your area my second best is "Bio-Groom" you can purchase those at Petco. My favorites being "Econo Groom" & "Super White" shampoo

I wouldn't suggest using human shampoo on a dog. It could cause some problems. I use fourpaws Magic coat tearless puppy shampoo. It works great, my puppy smells good and his coat is really shiny.

I have a pomeranian and whenever she takes a bath we use Johnson's baby shampoo that is tear free. It makes her smell clean and human kind will burn her eyes.

They have some nice dog shampoos at petsmart that have a longer lasting scent. I got "baby powder" scent for my chihuahuas. They smell fresh as a newborn for days after their bath!

I have found that human shampoo makes my Shih Tzu itch, but that might just be him. I would use a Pet Citrus Shampoo. This has a nice fresh scent.

Be careful what shampoo you use on your dog. Sometimes it can cause a burning reaction on their skin.
