Congrats on your new pup! I would just watch him/her? for a couple days and the right name will come to you.

As far as food goes, Google "Dog Food Reviews" and you'll find a couple sites that review the top foods. Most grocery store brands are filled with stuff that will lead to vet visits now or later (for scratching, diahrea, allergies). Especially note that Iams is *not* quality, though it is more expensive than Purina and other store brands.

I feed my two puppies a brand called "Canidae" which has good ingredients without being mega expensive. You can get it from Amazon.com delivered to your house. Or, for less $, you can get it from petfooddirect.com. Also Google for "Canidae promotion code" before you purchase. You can get 20% off with a code.

Enjoy your new little one!

Just watch him for a few days and a good appropriate name will come to mind. Puppy chow is always good...no scraps..plenty of water available. Lots of affection.

Pedigree is my choice of dog food. He'll tell you his name, if you watch and listen. Had a Golden once who would walk around and through my legs, round and round and round. after many stupid names were suggested, I offhandedly said to him "you're just a round dog" Named him "Rounder". Another's name was "Digger" obvious why.

Give your new kid time, and observe. He'll let you know.

congrats! Don't forget to start teaching him "manners" Now.
