ALthough it is private property most places like that have an agreement with the cops that give them the right to do so. This is why parking in handicap places like walmart can result in a ticket.

One of the zoning requirements of apartment complexes is to have handicapped parking. Police have the authority to enforce handicapped, fire zone or other parking violations.
Sorry, but there is no excuse for violating the law.

Yes they can. FYI. A law is a law and being that almost 100% of ALL handicapped spots are on privately owned property, the law really wouldn't make sense if they couldn't ticket on private property.

Afraid so. We just paid some tickets for my daughter, that she received in her apartments. While it is private property or not, all they needed was someone to call them because you were parked there and that's probably what happened. I would however complain to the manager about not having anywhere to park.

Most municipal codes include prohibitions on unauthorized parking in handcap stalls even on private properties. If you have parking issues with your apartment complex, you need to either deal with the management to resolve it or move.

Yes they can and they will, if the apartment management has signed the authorization with the PD. Why dont you ask the apartment management to assign spaces for tenents by marking those spaces "RESERVED FOR TENENT APT 2" etc. Then the police can also ticket/tow anyone that takes your space. Sounds easy enough...

Of course they can and should. How could anyone be so mean to deny a handicapped person a parking spot is beyond me. They should be DOUBLE fined.

Yes and the bigger question is why are you parking in the handicapped spot when you don't need it?
