They don't realize how ancient communion really is. Only they really drank human blood and ate human flesh and organs. It benefits no one. If they knew what it really is most of them would stop the ritual.

The act of eating the body and drinking the blood is actually taken from an ancient practice used to seal a covenant between two parties. You can learn all about it in "Lost Secrets of the New Covenant". I believe the Author's name is Malcolm Smith.
Basically, to partake in the flesh of Jesus is to become a participant in His sacrifice and therefore receive the benefits of that same sacrifice. In the Old Testament the High Priests were required to eat part of the sacrifices made to God each year. Christians, whether they know it or not, carry on that tradition every Sunday.

Holy Communion is based on the Lord's Supper.
The Lord's Supper was a celebration of the Passover Seder.
The Passover Seder meal commemorates the Exodus.
The symbolism of the sacrificial lamb derives from the
concept of offerring an animal in atonement for our sin.
Jesus was referred to as the Lamb of God.

The Lords last supper was very special. He knew He was about to be betrayed by Judas. He broke the bread and gave the cup to His apostles and told them to eat and drink in "rememberence of me" (in communion ) You are never to take communion if you hold any sin in your heart. You need to have a pure heart and a clean heart to do this. When you remember Jesus and why you are taking communion ,then you are keeping Jesus on your mind and heart. This is like a refesher for CHristians. It is very beautiful and meaningful if it's done in a reverent way and not just do it because others are. WOE be to the ones that take it unworthily.(sorry-can't spell)

Passover,
Manna in the desert.
God wishes to sustain us.
Him alone
Have I thought beyond the church & bible teachings? Many times.
This practice is a most excellent thing, that is unexplainable in its benefits. When one receives Holy Communion with a worthy heart, there is nothing on earth to compare to the solidity of the rightness that wells up into one's soul. From this fountain comes all things that without, our society would fail. I bet the very first man did this thing: Communed with God. We are the inheritors of this great heritage.

This practice is showing that Jesus gave up his life for us, and to remember it. The Communion symbolizes the last Supper, and this practice benefits the faithful because it is a weekly reminder that God loves us.

Christ is our passover lamb, that saves us from eternal death.
The passover lamb was slain by the Jews and then eaten.
In the same way, Roman Catholic Christians, offer up the same sacrifice of our LORD Jesus Christ at Calvary in the Holy Mass and then eat of the literal, actual Lamb-Jesus Christ.

I think that the bread and wine at the Lord's Supper were cakes and ale. It's a pagan tradition.

1 Corinthians 11/23. For I received from the Lord the teaching that I passed on to you; that the Lord Jesus , on the night He was betrayed took a piece of bread, gave thanks to God, broke it and said, " this is my body, which is for you. Do this in memory of me. " In the same way, after the supper He took the cup and said, " this cup is God's new covenant, sealed with my blood. Whenever you drink it, do so in memory of me." .........we do it for He told us to as a way of remembering Him.

before Jesus died, he wanted to have one last meal with his friends. so, we commemorate that with communion by consuming his body and blood, just like the last supper.
