I posted another question smilar to this earlier and I'm just looking for some more answers.

One more thing I keep reading about people waning a cig still after like two years of quitting WTF! this is distressing,Does it ever really go away.or am I doomed to a , yes healthier, but unhappy annoying life?,

Ask the people coming over to not smoke around you. I quit smoking 5 years ago. The first 2 weeks I would give my hubby extra kisses just to taste the tobacco!!!!!!!!! After a couple of months I couldnt even stand the smell of smoke. Dont give up. The first week is the worst and then it's alot better. I also used the patch, that does help a little.

It doesn't have to be an annoying life I am sure your mouth feels a lot fresher in the mornings and much sweeter to the people you kiss as you will find out after a few months please do back smoking if you do you will smoke more and never give up your clothes will be free of smoke and all aound the house will smell nicer I never smoked a lot but one day at work the young guy I worked with said I should pack up smoking as I didn't smoke a lot I thought for a few minutes and gave him my cigarettes and lighter and said ok you smoke them and never had a ciggy from that day and my lungs are perfect and I have no trouble walking or getting out of breath of which you will get so for sure if you keep smoking
you have gone through the worst of it and tell your friend you don't smoke and you would prefer her not to smoke while she is in your company she will understand and try and change your drinking to something that isn't tobacco craving use the patches good luck

I can't really tell you what to say... I am a former smoker... well not technically. I "quit" January 5th of last year and I still smoke 1-3 smokes a month. I dunno, I just feel stressed at times and I smoke once in a while socially. I am kind of blessed that I can keep it down to that and not start up again full time. I hear you when you say it's hard to say no to drinking with your friends or being around others that smoke.... smoking itself is a major mental thing, you have to mentally prepare yourself and keep yourself strong. Personally, I feel for myself that if I know I can have one once in a while and be fine with that, then I just am. I know this isn't probably exactly what you were looking for but that's all I can say from experience.

*LOL* Alright, the truth about quiting smoking is this, you will NEVER stop wanting a cigarette. Your cravings will weaken eventually and you will only crave them every once in awhile, but then you'll want them again. If you are serious about quiting, please listen carefully: Do not wait for the urge to go away, because it won't. You have to keep your mind off of it and remember why you want to quit. DON'T ring in the new year with a cigarette, it's a very bad start for someone who has come so far already. Drink, NO cigarettes...

yes it will be hard to not have that cig, with a drink.I passed my first test ,by being where you had to go outside to smoke . Too cold ! I went out to see what every one was doing and decided I had already went through the hard part of quitting ,[the first two weeks ] to let that go and start over .Did I mention ,we were also playing cards ,and I had always smoked then too.Going outside was a test, walking around. You can do it ,just think how far you've came .

I smoked about a pack and a half for 17 years. I have been smoke free for about 13 months.
Like yourself, I liked to tie on on now and again. Accually that is when I crave one the least.
You don't relize how much a ciggarette stinks untill everyone else is smoking except you.

Good Luck and stick with it !!! It's worth it.

Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things you'll ever do.

Congratulations on making it 5 days. In answer to your question, yes, you'll still get cravings long after you quit, so it's important to be really strong.

Here's the truth: in order to successfully quit for good, you have to want to quit. I mean really really really WANT it badly.

Good luck to you. You can make it. Just think hard before lighting one up New Year's Eve - do you really WANT to quit?

You can do it.

ok i dont smoke tobacco but i have before and i quit
i smoke weed : ) lol but a cigarette has over 1300 poisons in it a marijuana plant has only 400 chemicals in it that are way way less harmful then those in cigarettes but if u want to quit for sure
get some chantix its a med that u get over counter its like 160-70 dollars but its worth it its way more effective than patchs and gum. what the med does is it blocks off where the niccotine enters your nerons and the med goes there and gives u way less craveing to smoke... google it if u dont belive me. btw have fun on new years if u drink u should smoke a bowl lol
