Did anybody do anything more special than usual for the Yule celebrations this year?
And if you haven't yet, what do you have in mind?
I'm looking for something more significant than the usual, this is special year for me.
Any ideas?
For those of you that may take offense at me asking, please don't, it's not your input I'm looking for here.
Thank you for your kindness.

Hmn, badger_s...katas are cool, and fun. I just happen to have a wicked old oak tree in the back yard that I've been carrying on with for some time.

Hailsa - We've a fire roaring, we had family and friends over earlier, blessed the food and drink and offered a bit to the gods and goddesses. We've got pine boughs drying that we'll burn on New Year's morning to welcome the sun that's growing in power. We'll be doing a small ritual every night until then.

Good food, goof friends, family, good times.

K have about a dozen friends over and we're standing around the bonfire getting wasted on home brewed Mead and wine. I just came in to warm up for a bit and show some of them around the Altar and saw this was still on.. LOL

Brightest Blessings, and have a Blessed Yule,

In an effort to be different I spent a few months devising a Karate kata ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kata ) to represent the rebirth of the sun/duel of the Holly and Oak Kings, and performed it by firelight in a local forest at sunset.

I've been making cookies for two days straight. Still have more to make. I just hung out with my family today, made cookies, barbecue sandwiches, played games, and got yelled at for making an anatomically correct gingerbread man.

This is our first year of celebrating it. We have a sun in darkness out on our front door and come sunrise we will turn it to bright yellow.

Tonight we will darken our home and light candles as we thank the God and Goddess for the rebirth of the sun.

Thats all we really have planned for tonight. We have a potted tree decorated in homemade snowflakes and spirals and suns. My kids loved decorating it.

Hm, no.
Seriously, this year I really just am not feeling up to anything.
It would feel really fake and so I'm greeting it with thanks...
However, I can tell you that last year...
We made ornaments that were to represent the sun and used those to decorate our tree.
And since we have two little ones, we did some arts n crafts to remind ourselves what the holiday is about.
Glad Yuletidings!!
