What you like is good, and what you don't like is evil. Generally it's relative and varies from person to person. Best part is that if we have control on ourselves, we can always change our likes and dislikes - which means change good and evil. That concludes that good can become evil, and evil can be converted in to good. Thus good and evil are same. Good is less evil and evil is less good. Or you can say there is neither good nor evil - only a mental perspective! Q.E.D.

Make a rock. Put it into outer space. Leave it there. Not much would happen. Gradually and eventually it may begin to deteriorate. Good and evil are tools used by God for the purpose of creation. The light and dark created on the first day were those principles. Without good and evil there would be no creation.

One word, subjective. What is good for one is evil to another, and vice-versa. Therefore it is impossible to accurately define these in any sort of reasonable manner. Example: I think it's completely good to give my wife a dutch oven before we go to sleep (I think it's funny, in a good way). My wife however, not liking the smell of the dutch oven I put her in, thinks it's evil. Example: Islamic radicals fly an airplane into a building killing 3000 people, why? Because they thinks it's good according to their bible to do so, non-muslims believe this to be completely evil. You can see that trying to define these terms is pointless because no two people have shared morality, and see the world from different perspectives, and with different biases. They develop there own sense of right and wrong through trial and error, and experience. The mistake is believing that others agree with you, because many of them don't.

good: positive, creative, non selfish, giving, female energy

evil: negative, destructive, selfish, taking, protective, male energy

Both are necessary for the others survival. One can not maintain its existence without the other. Both must exist. but if balance between the two is not maintained, evil will overcome good because that is its nature. A being whose goodness is unbalanced becomes vulnerable to the evil nature of others.

An example: Females give birth, they nurture, they are introspective, they gather, they create life but in order to do so they also become vulerable. Males, hunt, and kill, they provide the meat, or protect their mates and offspring, without this instinct, both would starve, and be killed by stronger males.

Now does that mean the female is all good and the male all bad? No, not at all. The balance comes in that the female must have some selfprotective instincts and hunting instincts for the times the male is not there to interceed. And if the male can not be gentle and nurturing to its female and its offspring it will kill them, no females will mate with it of llive long enough to reproduce. Eventually it will die out. It is all about balance.

Look at a broader example: the strict Musilims in the middle east today. This society has become so unbalance that the males have become so destructive that they kill their own women and children and celebrate it. Their own self protective instinct is eradicated. They are happy to blow up themselves, women, children, their shelters, their food suppies, anything and everything. They have disconnected from the balance within themselve, seeing only some magical future in the next world.

The women of that society have systematically had every power and male survival instinct stripped from them. They are overly vulnerable and can not demand balance or protect themselves from the total male, destructive domination. Their natural balance has been completely removed. The dominate energy become evil, free will to chose balance is gone. The males insist on total reprductive dominance to maintain its population. But it will eventually destroy itself.

The males are conditioned to place no value on the female energy, forcing it into an unnatural imbalance. This is now highly recognizable as evil completey out of balance. And it will eventual destroy itself and everything around it. If not restrained by a strong, balanced male energy, (ie. the military in this case) it will result in total destruction of the species. Luckily, the inbalance in this case is localized and can be controlled and contained somewhat.

This is just a global example of how a species can die out due to its complete and total imbalance of the good and evil aspects within each individual. It has nothing to do with sex since both sexes contain aspects of both good and evil, always at the same time. If in balance free will then dictates the degree to which one choses when to use both instincts.

It has nothing to do with religion, religion is only a pattern of behaviors within a society which if in balance will help maintain the society not destroy it.

I am not a philosopher, an athiest, or an anthropologist. I am just a mom, living in the US, who also wonders what will happen next.

The fact that you are asking is a good thing. Only God can honestly answer this question. I believe that God gave man Free Will, which to me means the ability to choose between good and evil. I suppose you will have to decide for yourself what the two mean. Good Luck.

Jehovah God is good.

Good to me means, the fruits of God's Holy Spirit, 6 in line out of 9 fruits.

Satan is evil.

Evil means to me, badness, wickedness, hateful.

In Galatians 5: 19-21, the works of the flesh are listed. In the same chapter, verses 22 & 23 list the fruits of God's Holy Spirit which we would do well to cultivate.

Good and evil are judgment calls. You cannot have one without the other.

Evil is hating someone. Good is loving someone. For example, I would curse at someone when they made me mad. This is hate. The opposite of this is someone makes me mad, I don't curse at them. It is a choice to choose good or to choose evil.
