For example:
You are stranded alone with complete strangers on a deserted island. Immediately leaders come forward and start spouting their beliefs (which you do not normally subscribe to) to everyone. The leaders are very charismatic and soon almost everyone is following them. Would you follow too? Do you think you would be able to keep from being swayed by them? What would make you different from the other castaways?

Anybody who has a religion is already brainwashed.
That's why children should be thought self leadership and let them decide their religion when they can decide for themselves. Rationality is the best weapon against brainwashing, in this case I'll act as if I subscribe to their beliefs but only for my own survival.

two tools of brainwashing that are commonly used is flattery and a deprivation of food.. the best thing to stop yourself from being brainwashed is to eat... which is hard on a deserted island....

I do think I would NOT be easily brainwashed because I am the type of person who is sceptical, I like to use my own intelligence and logic to figure stuff out on my own.. ( i have a high IQ)
however in a survival situation you dont want them to know you oppose them, or you could easily "disappear".. so you would be best to play along unless your survival is at risk

by the way - I do beleive Global Warming is real
- I do beleive Bush was somehow involved in the Trade Tower attacts
- I dont beleive the Christian myth that Jesus was born Dec 25- I am educated enough I know that this holiday was around LONG before Jesus, and was celebrated for the birth of the Roman Sun God Mirthra..

interestingly enough I will add that the Church and politicians are # 1 leaders of brainwashing...telling people lies to gain control over them...
I tend to question everything and find out answers on my own.

It depends what means they take if I did not follow their beliefs. I think you can be brainwashed if you could be broken down and in fear of your survival.

When you were growing up you were constantly being civilized by your parents, relatives, teachers and the media. They were evaluating your every word and act against some cardboard child of perfection. You were taught to measure up, work harder, play nicer and learn more. Like it or not you were brainwashed to be externally-directed. After your schooling was completed, the job of evaluating your every move was turned over to your company and its minions.

How can you become internally independent when you are subject to the matrix created by others? The answer is volition, your will to act to satisfy your own muse (inspiration) and not the dream of others. You can begin any time, even at seventy-five, but why wait to declare your war of independence?

Yes, I think I would be able to keep from being swayed. I am a hard-headed, Southern girl from the backwoods who is deeply, rock-steady, rooted in her ways and beliefs. So yeah, I'd just pick my side of the island and do my own thing- I like being alone anyways! =)

I would follow.

I wouldnt be brainwashed.

there is something that i like to do... double and triple ask what are the intentions of other people.

but... if doing what they want me to do gets me out of the deserted island, i might well do that as long i know that I will stop doing that as i get out of there... or wait till someone else comes. (I dont like to wait).

It all depends on if you know yourself and you know what you want (thats the real hard think). Everything else doesnt matters as long as you know those two things, cuz if you do... you can always get on track.

No problem, i can totally avoid being brainwashed, especially by religious types, however, I must admit, i do enjoy watching the guys on tv screaming and sweating as they talk about god, its like im watching comedy central.

I'm not 100% sure I could resist, but the fact that I'm extremely self centered might help. Most likely I would pretend to believe and try to keep my mind unwashed.

The only way to avoid being brainwashed is to set your mind on what is true and sure.

That's when you use the God Yahweh's knowledge as a shield of armor against the false teachings of others.

Depend on whether they have a big boat or not. I could always lie until I get home.
