Question 1:
Actually the new testament was written between two THOUSAND and 1900 years ago. Not 2 million!
The books in the old testament were written over a period of about 1000 years, between 2200 and 3200 years ago.
For the books which were written as historical accounts, the evidence that they are historically accurate is high. Other books such as letters (called 'epistles'), poetry, and legal books, have been transcribed faithfully and accurately since their first writing. Different versions of these, found in different places, are all very similar, showing that there was little to no change when people made new copies. In the last book of the bible, Revelation, it says that people who take away from or add to the words written in the bible, will be punished severely.
The bible is also internally valid- the books, despite being written over a long period of time, all come together to tell the story of God's people. These were originally (in the old testament) the Jews, then when Jesus came into the world he said that the salvation he brought was for everyone, both Jews and non-Jews. All they have to do is believe in him.
Christians believe that the bible was written by ordinary men like us, as you said. BUT they also believe that those men were 'inspired' or influenced by God. So even though there were lots of people writing in different time periods, God was the 'director' of the whole thing.
Question 2:
As for HOW someone would go about basing their life around the bible.. In the bible, Jesus said that the two greatest commandments are to love God, and to love your neighbour. Everybody is your neighbour, including your enemies. Jesus also says that we should have faith in him, and that is how we will be saved. Christians stuff up too, we are not perfect people, and you will see examples of this. But these three things are the central idea of the Christian faith, which we try to live by.
I hope this was helpful, even if you may not agree with it :)
Feel free to message me if you have any more questions.

The bible was not written two million years ago. I mean if you are going to criticise something at least get your facts right first.
What happens when you die? Is there heaven, hell or nothing.
Whatever your answer, how do you know? How did man get on this earth, why are we here, and how do you know?
Not interested in the answers to mysteries?
But some people are. And some people find their answers here and some people find there answers there.
Why are you criticising other peoples rights to live how they want?
Apart from that, there's a lot of factual data in the bible.
The fact that men and women came from the same mother (mitochondrial eve) has long been proven by science.
Recently a lot of evidence has been discovered to show there was a global flood. The bible is not just a religious book, but a written history, in the same way people today would write a history. The evidence that you have never read a bible is clear with your statement, a lovely fairy tale. There's very little lovely in the bible. Or have you just been watching the fantasised nativity stories on tv? Really, I'm not religious but I have studied a lot of religions which puts me in a much better position than you to criticise, but I won't.

First, there is scientific things to back it up. All of the battles, people, and events in the Bible are real. You wanna know why? Everytime scientists put it to the test, they always find artifacts that support it. Many scietists also use it as a history book. Also, the New Testament is written by Jesus' followers. These people saw what Jesus did everyday. That might not seem like a good answer, but think about it. If you believed in Jesus those days, you would be killed. Right before execution, they could of all said they didn't believe, and they would be free. Yet they were willing to die for the truth. It's not a fairytale, it really happened.

People believe in the Bible because it is their perogative to do so,faith is, a big part of that reading, It has, I must admit always, been a puzzle to me, that belief in a person who cannot be seen, or, proven to ever have existed commands such a vast audience.parts of the bible I found interesting, not all of it.
Having been written by man, all those years ago, it does give a view of life in those far off times all beit, the views of the people who contributed to the writings.how factual is it?
That is a question to which theologists will have an answer, acceptance of their answer is again, the perogative of an individual or not. as the case maybe.

It wasn't two million years ago, but the answer to your question is no. No one today lives by the Bible anymore. Fred Phelps is the closest thing left to a True Christian and even he would be considered to be a liberal amongst the people of the dark ages...the last time True Christians roamed the planet.

Just to get the facts correct, the bible was written a few thousand years ago, not million years ago.
People who believe in the bible do so because they think it is the word of God.

Well lets start w/ the earth is only about 10,000 years tops. If history was taught correctly yiu would know that this great nation was founded on the principles of the Bible and it is all very real and its your choice to accept it or not. The Bible applies to now-a-days not just when it was written....check it out.

The bible was written many years ago, however, what you do not understand is that it is Gods way to reach out to man.
The bible is a living, holy book.
People understand it through the empowering of the Holy Spirit who endwells their lives.

The term "Word of God" is being misrepresented. Jesus used that term in the Parable of the Sower long before the Bible came along. (there were no new testament manuscripts back then, and I don't think he was sowing the temple scrolls either)
This resource goes into depth on that subject... if you want to be really informed on the matter, read this...
