I have recently read some of the stuff that speaks of the Roman Catholic Church as being of pagan origin, the Whore of Babylon, that they force celibacy on the priests and several other things of this sort. I decided to check out what the catholics had to say on the matter and discovered that many of the arguments against the Roman Catholic Church by Protestants are now being used by atheists against Christians in general.
Please see the works of; Alexander Hislop, Jack Chick, Dave Hunt, and Loraine Boettner. It will be found that many of the atheist arguments against Christianity are directly taken from the works of these Christians. Kind of amusing though that they have to rely on us to give them the ammo to fire at us. We should be ashamed.
Once again, who is the #1 enemy of Christians?

Ed, please read my question again. I did not ask, "Does pointing out flaws in one Sect damage Christianity as a whole?" If you do just a tiny bit of study you will find that all of the charges I have mentioned in my details are fallacies that completely collapse under scholarly scrutiny.
Never try to put words in someones mouth as you are probably gonna get spit on.
This is the problem with so many on this forum you are so busy reading between the lines you forget to read the lines.
Read the question you fool.

According to the Bible our enemies are not human.
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Athiesm or I should says anti-thiesm is becoming quite organized in their attack on Chritianity recently headed up by men like Richard Dawkins who have as much hate for religion as any religion ever had. But the Christian knows that they are really motivated by spiritual forces who are our real enemy.

First off, I'm a Christian, and I don't even know you to begin with so I can't imagine how I would want to hate you. Besides, I don't see any reason to, and I shouldn't hate period. Secondly, I believe that no person is perfect. Regardless of how good you think you are, you have flaws. So please don't act like like you're better than everyone when really everyone is flawed. Arrogance won't help you to gain any respect from Christians or atheists alike. Thirdly, I don't stereotype, but I have observed many rude, selfish, atheist bigots on Y/A, so please do not try to tell me that "atheists are some of the nicest, loving, caring, giving, polite, sensitive, gentle, humble, and sweetest people you may come across", because my own experiences have proven otherwise. I don't recall ever calling out atheists as a whole and insulting them, but if I have, I apologize, and I hope I can speak out for most Christians here when I say that. However, I am happy for once to see someone calling for peace rather than stupidity and war on R&S. So thank you for showing me that there is still some sensibility left in this place.

Well its not atheists or Christians, it is Satan. Satan will use Christians to damage the cause of Christ if he can, he will also use atheists. He will use whatever he can.
Lately it seems he is using Christians more than anything.
I highly recommend the book, "Damage Control, How to Stop Making Jesus Look Bad." by Dean Merrill. I just finished it, and it has really challenged me.

Looks like Ed changed his answer for you, I even gave him a thumbs up for his revised edition.
Christians, of course, are our own worst enemy.
It was the Protestants that spread the lies about the Inquisition, it was Protestant Supreme Court justices, motivated by hate of Catholics, that lead to our anti-religion rules and precedents, and today it is untrained, unskilled and unstudied fundamental Christians who claim Catholics aren't even Christian, among other lies.
We have no one to blame but ourselves, and yes, we should all be ashamed.

I think that now Christian's worse enemies are atheists. Because it is the atheists who succeeded in getting God out of schools. They keep going on and on trying to get the mentioning of God out of everything, our money, our pledge, our constitution, schools, government, Christmas..........

The biggest threat to Christianity is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and deny him with their lifestyles. That is what an unbelieving world finds simply unbelievable.

Satan is the number one enemy of Christians..Satan uses just about anything to destroy the fellowship of believers whether it be cults, sin, corruption within the church, anti-Christs or whoever or whatever. The only way to fight is to pray and depend on our Lord and the Holy Spirit which unifies all believers into the body of Christ. When we are one in the Lord, there is no enemy strong enough to destroy us.

Christian infighting indeed is Christianity's worst enemy.
This atheist has no wish to stamp out belief, merely that our Constitution be followed. Rule of Law, including freedom of religion, is what has made the USA unique in its Christian diversity.
I'm reassured when I read the blog of Mainstream Baptist or books by John Shelby Spong that this is the America I know and love.
Addendum: Hats off to your good research.

Atheists do not believe that they need to do good to satisfy the desires of an all-powerful deity nor do they believe that they can break rules all their lives and then regret everything at the end to be forgiven. They believe in moral values that come from within and are more tolerant of diversity than followers of a single religion.
I often find Christians acting in a way much further from the teachings of Christ than atheists.
